For once we have a big bust incoming for us.. on the good side

heavy snow continues
Wow didn't think this storm would be juicy enough to produce the kind of numbers it seems like it may produce inland.

I'm honestly not sure if the rain/snow line will move that much from where it is now until maybe the very end before the dry slot. With an ENE or NE wind temps aren't moving much. Just a hunch though.

Wind has gone from due east to 'ENE and now more NE.
Maybe that's why I went from junk to heavy accumulating snow in the last 20 minutes. Absolutely ripping out. I thought it was going to change to plain rain around now and not get my best snowfall of the night but I'll take it.
-
After I thought it was done it's actually kind of ripping snow now? The best it's looked all night and sticking to car tops.

Went back to snow here after either rain or a lull (couldn't tell?) doubt ill get accumulation but if it's still snowing here I imagine places a bit to the north could continue to pile on.

We didnt catch the maritime affect east/west in models for westchester. Water is warm
Wonder if it's also the wind being east instead of SE thats created this sort of odd situation. North Shore LI seems to be doing better than near the sound. For me it may just be that I'm too far south and less about the sound as I'm a bit west of the Bronx River but near Riverdales latitude.

Taking Metro North from Croton Harmon back the city, really amazing the differences in snow between Yonkers and Riverdale.
Interesting but knew the line would be sharp in this type of storm. The differences north to south and east to west in lower Westchester seem pretty dramatic.

Knicks game and heavy snow, great combo, heavy fat snow falling here and its cold!!.
Is it sticking at all around there?
-
The cutoff is sharp. Nothing here and thurway cameras show Ridge Hill part of Yonkers completely snow covered.

HPN is 29 right now, I guess we can toss the RGEM in the garbage for now.

Doesnt help it's so marginal to begin with.
My theory is it sometimes happens but more like the difference between 5 or 6 inches, but with this its a matter of 1" or nothing so it's more obvious. You're right though its usually doesn't extend very far like it would on the Atlantic side.
I'm told there is some light acclumation in parts of the west half of the Bronx.
I'd say I'm mainly snow now but still no accumulation. it's mostly frustrating seeing Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island get snow and not us because the ingredients are there for this to bust positive and instead if it busting negative.

Now down to 31..... way colder than modeled yet a rain/snow mix. Must be some sneaky warm layer. I'll be getting ZR soon at this rate I'm so confused lol.

Not many if any models had HPN at 30 degrees, looks good for 4 to 6 inches
That's the even more frustrating part is that temps are even colder than modeled. I'm down to 32 with a rain/snow mix it's bizarre. In any event yes this could be a bit higher than expected for parts of Westchester that are getting snow.

Around Southern most Westchester and NE Bronx all I see is rain, moderate at times. I assume if that strong east wind lines up right with the Sound it might as well be JFK here.
I've never seen this happen though. Usually the sound isn't the atlantic especially unless you are like right up against it. Also I'm closer to the Hudson than the Sound and having precip type issues so I don't know if it's even about the sound or some other weird phenomenom.

Me neither. When it's snowing in places like New Brunswick Edison Manhattan Long Island its usually snow here.I've been here 26 years and never experience this yet.
Same in my time living here which is much shorter than yours I've never seen this happen. I'm also I think west of where you and closer to the hudson river than LI sound so I really don't understand how there would be sound influence. Guess it's a new weather phenomenom. Bizarre. It could just be crappy rates in this area but it looks like precip is coming down decently.

Lights snow started about 330 here. around 4 o'clock switch to rain.
It's about 75% to 25% rain to snow since then. I'm in Southern Westchester this makes no sense.
It's like 75/25 snow here but enough rain mixing in to limit anything from sticking. Very strange as I usually don't get much sound influence.
-
I was optimistic earlier because of how well things are going in other places but it’s actually seems like a lame rain/snow mix here with no accumulation.

Definitely some flakes mixing in but it's mostly rain here.
It actually might be a mix here too but seeing reports from south of here I’m not too worried about it as I think it’ll be all snow once rates pick up.

I'm in New Rochelle atm and it's light rain and sleet here. I'd say 70/30 in favor of rain. Being close to the Sound doesn't help I'd imagine. I'm about to be heading west through the Bronx so maybe by Kingsbridge or Riverdale I'll see some flakes.
It's snowing in Woodlawn but no sticking thus far.

I'm having a hard time to figure this one out but I'm raining here in Mount Vernon.
Lack of precip rates probably. I'm very close to Mount Vernon though and it seems to be all snow but nothing sticking.

Moderate snow here now. Sticking to cars and grass. Temp down to 33 DP 31
If that's south Brooklyn this is definitely going to overperform.

34 with a wet bulb of 31 here currently if I'm understanding wet bulbs right.

I expect it as snow for most of us. The thermals are actually better then what the models have showed for the past couple of days, obviously nobody is seeing what is happening currently. Unless your on the imm coastline, your gonna snow
You're always optimistic but I do agree this is going about well as one could expect. Seems Central NJ and even parts of LI are seeing decent snow so have to believe at least upper Manhattan/Bronx should get at least a few hours of a good clipping as long as the precip intensifies soon.

The Wed storm may be a huge problem for the interior if they are getting 12-18 inches of snow tonight followed by that kind of rainfall.
