Something is wrong in that, what I assume to be a personal station output, as it froze my computer up. Also unless there was a long power interruption, that does not make sense.
No power outage. That's from my weather station right after the thunderstorm moved through.

Temp hit 0° here, so I decided to drive down to the road to get my mail and check on the situation.
It's cold
It's windy
We got minimal snow (I'd guess an inch)
The power company hasn't shut down the wind turbines yet.
Overall, it's a run of the mill mid to high end storm, yet not anything we haven't seen before here at our home.
I'd give it a 7/10 so far.

2 or 3 yrs back, MR models flashed a 979 mb SLP east of Detroit. I remember somebody in here @Stebo ? commenting how that basically never happens and ofc it promptly vanished the next run.

Awaiting for the storm to begin all while dealing with a failed air conditioner for a data center.

The public is gonna talk shit about meteorologists no matter what. They don't understand how difficult forecasting based on their knowledge and not just looking at models really is. For instance my SIL texted me asking me if we are getting a huge storm because everybody at her work is talking about it. Meanwhile we might get an inch but driving when the front comes through is gonna be a nightmare regardless.
Yup. I'm getting some grief because we rescheduled some family Christmas Eve events. We had to make a decision at least four days ahead due to catering and that was at a time when Chicago was in the 12"-15" zone. AS it stands now, it's a complete hype storm and nothing we haven't seen dozens of times before.

There's nothing between me and Denver except a barbed wire fence, and it fell down ten years ago. I hate wind.I’m about 100 miles to your SW surrounded by cornfields. Will by following your updates to see how far off I ended up from the real goods

There is still time to tick this back to something significant, but it’s 3rd and 25 from our own 10 yard line.

This thing is so robust that it jumped that far west & ORD still gets 10 inches in the end.
Another 50 miles west and ORD is gonna get 2" of rain.

It would be nice if I could come on this forum and go a one full day without somebody bringing up damn ghd2 lol.
GHD is quickly going into the same dumpster as "Katrina" in my mind. Tired of hearing about them.

The depth is 3 to 4" but you have to realize the water content in it is a lot. I took this picture on Saturday after the last thaw but before the fresh snow on Sunday. The frost depth is about 2 feet so the ground is frozen solid. Huge water Laden ice snowbanks everywhere too. There's really no water where for the water to run off.
And it can get bad (from March '07)

It’s only 2/8. Do people want summer to be over by 8/8?
No, I want summer to go from 3/1 to 10/31 and autumn from 11/1 to 2/28. That's why I'm moving south.
