North Balti Zen
Is the Davis Vantage Vue still the weather station that you all most recommend? looking for a good weather station to gift my girlfriend for the farm. If I go with the Davis, do I need to spend extra for their monitor for it ? I would think not - but wanted to make sure the data from it is available on an app or the like. if not the Davis, are there comparable stations to it that I should be looking into? thanks! MillvilleWx
Hey NBZ! Davis Vantage Vue is a great choice, but there's also the Ambient Weather WS-2000 that is a very good alternative. If you go with the Advanced Console, that thing has everything you could ever want to know, including sunrise and sunset information, HI/WC information calculations, and more. I say go with the Ambient just for the beauty and really solid data accuracy. That would be an incredible gift! Davis is what I would want if I was a Coop, but I think your gf would absolutely love the Ambient. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GRBY9NP?tag=brg_ana_amp-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJO7E5OLQ67NVPFZA&ascsubtag=1757093361701-606-home-weather-stations-with-rain-gauge_1757093361
North Balti Zen
Woo! Thanks Millville, that is the kind of info I was hoping to get - especially from a pro! Much appreciated. ETA- yep - that looks ideal. Went ahead and just pulled the trigger.
MillvilleWx
@North Balti Zen Glad I could help! Lots of choices out there, but that Ambient is best bang for what it delivers and the accuracy component of it all. I know you want as close to perfect as possible, so that is a solid choice! I think you'll love it!
Kmlwx
I have the WS-5000 and have had no complaints. In fact, with Energizer Lithium batteries I somehow have yet to have to change ANY of the sensor batteries...and it's been over 2 years I think. Has to happen eventually....they just keep going. I have a few temp sensors, a lightning one. Never installed the rain gauge because I don't have a good spot, and the wind direction is unreliable because it's not sighted properly - but for everything else it's been fantastic. The power supply for the console went haywire and died recently but got an Amazon replacement and it went back to normal.
