2007 was the last time NYC had temperatures in the 50's for July and August...the 2010's had only two years that temps dropped below 60...Aug 2011 and 2013 had a min of 59 for the month.,.Compare that to the 1970's which had seven years and six in a row with July and August getting below 60...

Good stuff! @Isotherm

The temp map for the US looks similar to the pattern for the US this week. Impressive heat for the Rockies and the MDT timezone while a persistent northwest flow for us here in the Northeast (near normal) with short lived heat of 1 to 2 days every so often.

would be nice to be in NW flow to keep the humidity in check!

Nice outlook, Tom!  The real headline summer of the decade will be in 2021....it follows the 11 year cycle that began in 1933.....(maybe there was too much of a little ice age influence still going on before that?) Based on how the 11 yr cycle summers have been getting hotter.....2021 may eclipse 2010!
