Okay then, a very sadistic 50% has been applied, could have been 71% under the merciless old regime.

 

Over in the June thread, I have reported on what scoring changes would occur if we applied the new more lenient penalties back over the first six months. That change is not an official change to scoring, just a "what if" discussion. The results are generally rather minor anyway.

 

Meanwhile, this is how things stand after four days, I will continue June's practice of reporting every fourth day or any time the seasonal max values change.

As originally phrased, Stebo has already won this bonus question with his highest overall guess of 106 vs the actual 107 at IAH.

At the moment, about half of these error points could diminish if warmer readings at ORD and ATL develop. Guesses for IAH can only accumulate more points for everyone so that won't be a factor except as a tie-breaker. Guesses for the three eastern stations were about evenly divided on either side of current seasonal max although DCA has more people hoping for higher readings than NYC/BOS.

Interesting factoid, consensus and most if not all players gained 90 points from the 24th to end of the month in the three eastern stations. Changes at Chicago and Houston also added 20-40 points to most scores. Atlanta was never within the range of our forecasts at any time during the month (excluding the first day or two).
