Chicago WX
July 2012 all but a lock to beat 1936 as the hottest July...and hottest month on record for Indianapolis. Whereas, in July 1936 the extreme heat relented in the last 13 days (only four days of 90º+)...July 2012 will sustain the extreme heat, through what looks like the end of the month. In the end, July 2012 may have this record by a relatively large margin over second place. Entropy
July has a good chance at becoming the record warmest at Indianapolis. That would only be the second month to be the warmest on record since the official observations were moved from the downtown rooftop site to the airport in 1939. Prior to March 2012, the last record warmest month was August 1936. July 2011 was nearly a record-breaker, but finished a close second to 1936. Fickle Heights
Up to 46 days in the 90s at the WL coop. By my count that ties 1988 and 1919 for eighth most in a year since 1887 for that dataset.
