    Would probably save a lot of time and energy if I just read the NWS forecast discussions and only start looking at the models if they are talking about a winter storm 3 days out. I just can't get over the Euro showing 15 inches of snow here Tuesday and then by Wednesday it was all freezing rain.

    That's all they do now, go with the Euro verbatim and call it their in house model.

    The Euro went from 15 inches if snow here to freezing rain in 24 hours only 3 days out. It sucks just as much.

    And today's runs are still not as extreme of a difference as the Euro went from yesterday morning to this morning.

    Just saying the huge jump by the Euro from yesterday morning to this morning is pretty ridiculous.

    I don't think the GFS has had as many wild swings as the Euro has the last two days.

    Yesterday WRAL was saying all snow north of Raleigh.

    If this ends up like the Euro shows this run then people are never going to believe the local mets again and no one should ever trust any model outside 3 days when it comes to winter weather here.

    I see PackGrad is pointing out the worst case scenario as always.

    Really how most of our winter storms are. Very rare we get a big storm with just all snow.

    The Wake County gradient looks legit with 2 to 7 inches.

    Yeah, that is probably the best case scenario, and really how a lot of our winter storms are, with back and forth with precip types.

    I think something like the GFS could happen for Wake north in NC with switching back and forth from snow, sleet and freezing rain, depending on the rates.

    GFS switches over to freezing rain.
