  1. What's it looking like for BOS and the 128 district? A sloppy inch before a changover? Weatherfella, what are you thinking for your area? Gotta cash in with something to show with this pattern right?
  2. High of 70 with smoky skies, red flag warnings, no rain for six months, and still none in the forecast. All coming together! Massachusetts Dreamin'.
  3. 18z gfs Insane in the membrane cold too!
  4. One sign that CA finally cools down in early November is a -PNA forecasted by the various ensembles. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/precip/CWlink/pna/pna.shtml It's not out of the ordinary that Ca experiences such a warm October, but as time moves forward from now into November, the kinds of temps that CA has been experiencing grows more unprecidented. For those of us who are pulling for rainy and cooler weather in CA, let's hope this pans out!
  5. Incredibly boring pattern here in N. CA with this Eastern Pacific ridge killing us. Anyone have idea when it finally begins to break? For awhile, the GFS was trying to break it in the long range ( 240+hours ) but over the last few days it keeps the beast in place with temporary breaks.
  6. GFS has latched onto the idea of a troft in the west developing towards the end of tbe month calming this MBN pattern you guys have been in.
  7. Several inches for 128 corridor, lollies SE Mass, the Cape and Islands. More red flag fire alerts for me here in CA with temps in upper 80's, crystal clear beautiful sunshine, and northern Santa Anna winds setting ablaze another town or two:
  8. Nice. Its a fun place to go for sure with casinos, and othet frolic nearby. A co worker of mine was married in one part of tbe Sierras in July and told me there was still snow cover around there! Curious, when you travel to Tahoe, which airport do you fly into? And yes, sacramento is a hidden treasure wedged between the Sierras and the Bay area. We've made frequent trips to both places, which are only like 75 miles east or west of here respectively. Not to say I don't miss being in Mass. during winter, which I do. But at least it's not LA or Miami around here in the winter!
  9. Hi. Yeah, even Auburn ( Maybe 25 miles from here towards the Sierras) usually sees a few flakes. Aside from being at such a low sea-level, I read that the Sierras I act as a block from allowing the continental polar invasions from making it into the Western side of those mountains ... like the Sac Valley. So, we'll be bulldozing the Sierras I've decided. ☺
  10. Yeah I remember you mentioning a 15 year haitis in So CA? My consolation is living in No Cal ( Sac Vallley 75 miles from the Sierres) where the winters can give cold ( relatively) nights and robust Pacific rain storms with colder temps and lots of wind, and an excuse to put on sweaters, build fires, and make some hot chocalate. Snow is impossible though being in the valley ... although every 10 years Sacramento may see a flake or two. As a snow weenie, I suppose I'm adding polish to pig turd, but admittedly, it's hard not to like No Cali. for many reasons. It hasn't been as bad as I thought really. We come back to Mass. for the holidays ( family) so thats always something to look forward to. I'll certainly be rooting for some good storms for you, not to mention tracking them. ☺
  11. Seems that the Euro seasonals are in parallel to what the Old Farmers Almanac is calling for ( A thrill for the EC). Horrible news particularly for So Cal.
  12. One storm, that doesn't probably doesn't rank high around here, but for me is worth comemorating, is The Dec 9th, 2005 mini blizzard. I was working in Needham that day, and we were only forecasted to get perhaps 1-3" that day. But a localized band set up somewhere around Boston...and BOOM! Basically we had thundersnow with lightning and high winds lasting like 3 hours or so. It was a 3 hour squall essentially. The total from that ended up being somewhere around 10".
  13. I'm telling you man, Nov. Snow is a good indicator for the winter... You should have listened to me.
  14. I guess that was considered a KU because of the widespread-ness anD this one isn't for the opposite reason.
  15. I was born in NYC in 1969 (Queens) within a week of the Lynsey storm but wasn't old enough to pinch myself
  16. Yeah that was big but not as big up here. We ended up with a measley 20" and it all melted within a week.
  17. Day I've waiting for since I missed the mauler that hit us in '05 Is now. Still in disbelief that this is actually happening. I mean, just 5 days ago this wasn't even on the table.
