  1. I saw some 65dbz returns packed with cloud to ground lighting strikes so I figured there must be a nasty hail core in there. That seems quite unusual for a nocturnal MCS
  2. Those storms are building beautifully and packed with lightning. Wish I could chase em.
  3. Yup! Pretty fun to watch. Looks like buffalo is lining up to get clobbered right now and Rochester is going to be too far east. I hate missing out on these events, they are so rare around here. The most intense lightning storms I’ve ever seen around here are always MCS’s. Buckle up buffalo, it’s looking promising for you guys
  4. I think outdoor transmission is minimal at best. Hence why spring break didn’t cause a spike and the reopening protests in Michigan didnt cause a spike.
  5. The first one is somewhat developing right now north and northwest of Lake Ontario. Parts of it are already moving through Rochester. It’s definitely diffuse and disorganized right now. The 18z nam has it exploding in the next hour or so. Looks potent but it’s the nam
  6. Some rather strong storms firing up under this extremely cold airmass. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some hail with the freezing level so low. Would be harmful to the fragile new veggie gardens. Rochester had some rain but just cleared out so the atmosphere is ripe. Seems like several rounds of intense pulse storms will be on tap. .
  7. I want arctic cold in winter and searing heat in summer. I need the extremes. I’m digging out the hoodies and cold weather gear for the next few days. I hate it after that glorious taste of summer.
  8. Certainly some potential. The more sun we can get the better. The prefrontal cells on the high res models look better than the actual frontal squall line. The Niagara frontier over to ROC will likely be shadowed as usual
  9. Crazy to see the 530dm line dipping into NY early next week. High peaks will probably see a couple flakes and a final hard freeze.
  10. It’s 75 degrees at 11pm. Where did this one from?! Absolutely amazing night around the fire.
  11. We will see a second wave and third wave and fourth wave Etc. The goal was to flatten the curve. We flattened it. Hospitals are ready. Time to get back at it while maintaining the best social practices that we can. No large scale concerts or sports for awhile still.
  12. I’m right get there with you. The high res NAM has churned our some impressive nocturnal cells. Almost mcs like, but frontal driven. I also agree that elevated convection is super intense sometimes. I think a combination of positive strikes and interesting thermal profiles really amplifies sound. I’ve definitely noticed that they seem louder over the years.
  13. Agree. And that’s why it’s fun to counter stupid trolls with logic that can’t be defeated.
  14. A cool/chilly June means highs around 70 which most people welcome. I’m not worried, we made it......June/July/August are always super nice in upstate. Pretty much no way to **** it up.
  15. The NFL might be able to limp along for awhile on TV advertising, but I just read that 50 percent of stadium ticket sales are used to pay the athletes salaries. Seems like something would have to give to make that work if it went on all season. Additionally, advertising dollars will be in short supply as we enter the depression. A 2020 football season seems to be in jeopardy in my opinion.
  16. Thats all well and good but I don't imagine these players and teams want to volunteer their time and play sports for free. Sports are built on income from ticket sales. Without it, sports cannot function. The entire foundation is gone without the fans and money. Not sure how this would ever really work.
  17. I think these are the kinds of gatherings we need to slowly start doing. People need to start small. We have to gauge how bad things are and at least test the waters on how bad the spread will be as we begin to crawl out of our houses. The hospitals aren’t overrun if there is a spike. Large gatherings like concerts, sports, and packed bars need to wait, as a super spreader could still cause a dangerous outbreak. But otherwise, I think the time has come. It’s inevitable that we will eventually have to start socializing again, we just need to take baby steps. I still haven’t made the plunge myself, but many of my friends have started to socialize within our group again.
  18. No one knew what to expect, I find it hard to blame anyone with this thing. I think erring on the side of caution was the only logical way to respond. A blunder implies there was an obvious better way to handle it, but we overlooked it. Would be nice if hospitals could have fully segregated wards so that electives can continue. Perhaps we will see specialized hospitals set aside for pandemics someday. Moth balled. Too much on the line to roll those dice this time, we just werent ready.
  19. Are you looking for honey or bees? I have tons of honey. Don't have any bees to part with.
  20. Bumblebees are docile but pack a very long stinger and can give a nasty sting. No barb though, so they can sting multiples times. All drones of the bees species are stingless as their stinger was replaced with a penis, no joke.
  21. I actually recall almost no fallout from the spring breakers. Tens of thousands of people were out there, I saw very little evidence of any hot spots related to spring breakers. As I’ve stated many times. There is no safer place than a beach. Parks and beaches should be open.
  22. Oh they sting alright. Only once though and then they die. But oh do they sting. That swarm had 30,000 bees!
  23. My truck is reading 79 right now. Feels glorious! looks like the squall line is already setting up and will miss Rochester as always. As a side note, this first warm day made my honeybees swarm. I was planning to split them tomorrow. Missed it by one day!! Damnit all. I Was able to collect them successfully though.
