Hey, could anybody recommend a good gardening forum for the southeast? Or has there ever been a sub thread here in the southeast part of the forum discussing vegetable gardening as related to current weather? Haven't had a garden since 2014 and this is the year I think he family could benefit from one.

Got cold out there 21.8˚ already, One of the rare times flow snow "flurries" make it all the way down to Saluda...

I’ll say this. Someone correct me if I’m wrong and granted it was a miller b, but I vividly remember in 2022, that storm had paltry QPf 48 hrs before the storm only to see the 3k and HRRR come into range and slowly tick up. Eventually it got all the way to .7 imby.
Yup, up here in Saluda we only were forecast 1-3" , and ended up with 10"

Getting reports of snow all the way down in Hendersonville.
Clear skies and stars are out 28.7° here on the east side of Saluda. Don’t think it’s gonna make it this far south tonight.

Wow, that euro run was depressing. I guess the cold push is really that stout…. Stay warm everyone, goodnight…

Alligators are gonna have more snow on their frozen asses in cajun country than bobcats in the hills of WNC.
Atlanta somehow managed to get 4+ inches of snow while we barely squeezed out 2 in the same system.
Like you said, this is mostly because of the dominant northern stream. Or maybe the skies still need to heal after Helene?
I’m not sure the skies will ever heal after Helene…. Seriously though, I’m picking up a load of firewood on Monday, hope it’s enough… going to get brisk for a few nights next week…

It’s weird but I think people are gunshy. I love where we sit
Me too, just printed a snow depth gauge... I can add another piece to measure up to 21 inches... but I don't want to jinx us...

I hope I’m not speaking out of turn as I don’t know the personal ins and outs of most of the posters on this board. I’m more of a lurker than anything else. But I wonder what the chances are of getting Burgertime to do a play-by-play of the European Friday night or Saturday night… It’d be fun for old times sake and really bring some good mojo to the board.

Are you sure? From this FB link, here are some quotes from him:
“To cover the entire E US in snow and ice”; “Coldest January in over 300 years”; “Last well into Feb giving us 2 weeks of freezing temperatures, something we’ve never seen before“; “This will be the biggest PV to ever hit the US”
I’m not making this up. Listen for yourselves.
I know he is just going for the clicks, but after the hurricane in September, nothing would surprise me…

Yea, first time I ever went cross country skiing was on the Parkway starting at the Hwy 276 intersection in May 1992. Winter is far from over.
I think that was the year had some friends get stuck at the Pisga inn, foot of snow memorial weekend…

My weather attention the balance of the week is how closely forecast temps track.
I'll be especially interested to see if the weekend's temps verify.
This Saturday's show is going to be cold!!!

Honestly not the worst idea. We do have a pretty deep crew at this point lol. I know I’m missing a few, but what say ye @wncsnow@calculus1@strongwxnc@westmc9th
Would Saluda fit into that?? Though I like living vicariously through some of the folks up north of Asheville....

Couldn't make it in to work (ICC) I-26 is flooding at the bottom of the mountain near the Columbus NC exit. Took Hwy 176 back home to Saluda and can't believe how much water is on the road and how fast the waterfalls are running. This is like a tropical system getting caught in the southern Apps.

Reports of a few sleet pellets mixing in down in Columbus NC…. At 47*. Seemed strange but mom has a gas fireplace with a metal flue and said she could hear it quite clearly…. She could see a few pellets bouncing on the deck…

Drove back from Charlotte tonight. I 85 and 74… Shelby got hammered with that storm… I’ve not seen that much lightning from a storm in a long time…. A few times had to pull over as there was so much rain flooding the road you couldn’t see the lines to tell what lane you were in…

I’ve been watching Ryan Hall on YT… I can’t believe how fast the tornado warnings are being issued…. Between 1130pm and 1145pm it felt like they were coming in every 30 seconds…. Tomorrow night is going to be rough….
