I bought a couple of these vintage shaded relief maps and they are pretty awesome. They are just flat paper 2d printed but look 3d when framed. Only $65 for a 24 x 36 and they have other states and maps available.
These are awesome. I am a huge fan of all kinds of maps, and I would definitely have a place for these.

I find myself not caring. If there was snow OTG, I’d be nervous, angry , and hand wringing over possibly losing the snow. In a futile winter it’s much more relaxing
I agree. Mid January I was more upset, and in anger mode. Not now. Just laughing at this point.
...Pics of Daffodils coming in northern Virginia in the mid Atlantic thread. Soon we will have the same scene here.- 2

Man.. 2 days of next 7 into the 60’s. Unreal
Hyperbole on ice fishing...Most lakes froze up or mostly froze during a 2 day deep freeze but the layer of ice was only thick enough for ducks to walk on it.

Ha. This was my hood back in my early days of living in Columbia County NY. Go back about 3 miles, and my house was on the right, only about 50 feet from the highway, not too far from the NYS, Berkshire Spur Toll booth which has since been taken down. I would go to sleep to the sound of I-90.

I might have mentioned this before but growing up in the Albany area I had someone in my family who I remember as "Cousin Marsha" (I don't recall the relationship, but she was on my father's side of the family) who lived to be over 100 years old (maybe 106?). When I was 9 or 10 (79, 80) she was over 100 years old and she would tell stories of the great storm of '88. I think she was 10 or 11 years old during that storm. She had some awesome photos of Albany. For years I had been trying to find that photo album with no luck.

Ratter = shameful excuse for winter. No one argues it, but I suppose the interpretation is different to the individual. In my hood it means, I don't think it can get any worse. I just hope I never experience this again.

I saw. Would be fitting to get porked this year for anything we desire lol.
Porked, even for trying to reach futility. That would be a first.

My son's boy scout troup is going to Philmont New Mexico summer of 2024. I have to camp out for 10 days in the mountains.
I would do that, just not at a festival with 1000's of people. Too old for that shit.

Yup. Pretty much. Tuned up snow blower looking for something to chew up...might as well be me, while enjoying that wiener in the balmy February sun.
I will be putting her back in the shed pretty soon. Usually I wait until the beginning of April. Not this god forsaken year. -

This is Groundhog Day and the Thur and weekend threat moved unfavorably for CNE/NNE overnite
Gfs def trended milder last 24 hrs and euro moving toward it .
I doubt there will be that one shot late Feb/ early March bomb for SNE that some have mentioned as a possibility. This will go down in history as the WORST winter in my lifetime. Hands down. This includes any of the winters growing up in the following locations;
Troy, NY
Lake George, NY
Columbia County, NY
Williamstown, MA,
Bristol, RI
Washington DC
Boston, MA
Windham county, CT
The absolute, fucking W.O.R.S.T. winter. These season is definitely humbling.- 2

I think everyone of us would sign on the dotted line to worm-hole our way out of this god forsaken cold season, at this point. There is no bigger meteorological purgatory than a cold season that won't produce.
...Only to be dumped into April, with backdoors, and continued missery. This year, for many, misery from January, through April. The definition of a perfect, Tobin-Swan-Dive storm.

...With the whopping 2 day deep freeze past us, and temps climbing above 32, I declare winter (in my area) down and out. While there is a brief chance that mouth to mouth resuscitation can be performed on Old Man Winter, the chances of revival are slim to none.
That is all.
Thank you.

@Cold Miser I feel like I took a tour of your musical world tonight. First I watched the Waken Festival documentary. I’ve seen stuff about it before but it looks totally crazy. I’m just a fringe metal guy anyway, more of a hard rock type. Looks fun though if I was 30 years younger.
Next I watched Rammstein in Amerika. Not overly familiar with them but the doc was very good. Seeing them arrested in Worcester in 1999 for a performance the year before was something. Not sure I could be a fan but I like the art aspect of what they do and the fearlessness of it.Ha...Cool. Wacken is my dream festival event. But at my age I would want to go there with the nice accommodations, lounge access, with access to the main field during bands that I like. They rent "cabins" and have showers and stuff. I just don't think I could tent it for 5 days.
Yeahh..Rammstein has been in trouble many times. I was happy to catch the stadium shoe last Fall as it was quite a spectacle.

Congrats to SNE on continued winter futility.
I may take a drive over to New Bedford so that I can bask in 61F.
