  1. Flight at 12:45 and TSA pre status makes security way easier...lol.
  2. Mazatlan would be ideal. Not sure I'll want to go that far at age 77 but we'll see.
  3. And they did suggest that any blow off cirrus would be thin enough to not obscure. Looks like 18Z GFS improved a bit at least for middle TN.
  4. Texas would have higher likelihood of better skies too. If I am alive and able I will go.
  5. I don't know Richard....being under a 594 dm ridge tends to be a good thing cloud and qpf wise if you want less of each.
  6. I'm surprisingly calm. Plan to pack my little bag tonight. Usually first thing in is socks and undies but this a time it's my eclipse glasses. Pick up the car at BNA, check in to the hotel-maybe take a practice run up to Gallatin and come back for dinner. Monday AM up early-coffee and up to gallatin to park, maybe breakfast, setup my position-everything contingent on the forecast being right...lol.
  7. Eh..nothings perfect Richard. I think maybe 2 days after your fropa would be best. The prevailing conditions in the eastern half of totality through the USA in summer are what they are. At least in TN Monday looks mainly dry. Clouds are so hard to predict when there is no synoptic driver though.....good luck and hopefully we all see the black hole!
  8. The hope is the typical diurnal cumulus can be dampened by the eclipse moving in. In any case, I'm feeeling ok with Gallatin-timing of the 594dm ridge high water Mark couldn't have been planned better. Fingers crossed.
  9. That's 30 minutes before totality in BNA roughly meaning probably at or just past west of there.
  10. Maybe it's cost....gotta be some benefit of a lifetime of work...lol.
  11. Yet everyone who has experienced totality say it's one of the all timers. People operate in silos. I looked up about a month ago and was struck with the fact that I'm 70 and always wanted to see totality. A no brainer. Besides, I've always enjoyed Nashville.
  12. I well remember that event. In Boston, we had nearly 97% yet it didn't get that dark. That's when I knew I had to get to totality. Or if I were lucky I could have flown my "Lear jet to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun"
  13. I wonder if that's the quick temperature drop and humidity rise briefly due to darkness at the eclipse time?
  14. What time is your BOS departure? I get in a bit past 4 with a short connection in Detroit.
  15. We should think of a rendezvous point. I'm staying not far from BNA. I was thinking of driving to the Vanderbilt area for dinner Sunday evening -nice neighborhood and walkable.
  16. Sticking with Nashville for now-I think cloud issues look ok and I enjoy Nashville. 12Z Euro clear as a bell for Nashville.
  17. I'm on my own. My wife decided to wait until 2024. Of course she's 12 years younger than me with better odds..lol. i decided to wait until Tuesday to return fearing difficulties getting to BNA Monday night. I also want to relax and celebrate in Nashville which I really like. Im going to try to get to Gallatin by 9AM-maybe sooner and have breakfast there. We should meet at the venue!
  18. Are you solo? Gallatin looks a good spot with 45 seconds more totality va Nashville.
