  1. If you burn your retina you could be seriously visually impaired-way worse than your current vision. Don't do it next time!
  2. I'm planning a big party in 2024 if I make it. May need to do 2019. I have to get a good camera. iPhone doesn't cut it.
  3. About 80%+. Sun is dimmer, it is cooler, and cumulus dissipating!
  4. Pretty good conditions now. Occasional cumulus but they're not increasing it seems.
  5. Triple Creek Park giving out free eclipse glasses in Gallatin. Huge venue so it doesn't seem that crowded. Made a good choice. Mainly clear still
  6. Damn-not a cloud in the sky at this moment. Feeling lucky!
  7. Just peeked outside the hotel window-nice day! Heading to Gallatin after a shower and coffee-hopefully will meet up with wxniss.
  8. It's going to be fabulous! I just got a text from a work colleague based in SF who's in Scotts Bluff,NE.
  9. Hot in Nashville-nice dinner with one of my wife's old friends. You know you're old when your wife arranges dinner with one of her female friends...lol. Drove to Gallatin. Not a lot of traffic around Nashville-lots of folks piling into this hotel-should be fun tomorrow evening. Happy eclipse viewing friends!
  10. Flight at 12:45 and TSA pre status makes security way easier...lol.
  11. Mazatlan would be ideal. Not sure I'll want to go that far at age 77 but we'll see.
  12. And they did suggest that any blow off cirrus would be thin enough to not obscure. Looks like 18Z GFS improved a bit at least for middle TN.
  13. Texas would have higher likelihood of better skies too. If I am alive and able I will go.
  14. I don't know Richard....being under a 594 dm ridge tends to be a good thing cloud and qpf wise if you want less of each.
  15. I'm surprisingly calm. Plan to pack my little bag tonight. Usually first thing in is socks and undies but this a time it's my eclipse glasses. Pick up the car at BNA, check in to the hotel-maybe take a practice run up to Gallatin and come back for dinner. Monday AM up early-coffee and up to gallatin to park, maybe breakfast, setup my position-everything contingent on the forecast being right...lol.
  16. Eh..nothings perfect Richard. I think maybe 2 days after your fropa would be best. The prevailing conditions in the eastern half of totality through the USA in summer are what they are. At least in TN Monday looks mainly dry. Clouds are so hard to predict when there is no synoptic driver though.....good luck and hopefully we all see the black hole!
  17. The hope is the typical diurnal cumulus can be dampened by the eclipse moving in. In any case, I'm feeeling ok with Gallatin-timing of the 594dm ridge high water Mark couldn't have been planned better. Fingers crossed.
