  1. But to 78blizzard’s point, we used to go below zero most years but it’s been much less frequent in the past 35 years.
  2. Among the 4-5 coldest in over a half century is noteworthy and not common.
  3. Judging from wx bug here in Worcester. 10 at Claremont Academy
  4. Better turn your water off of it’s not back quickly. At the very least run a little from all faucets.
  5. I’m looking forward to a midnight walk. I announced it on eastern in 2004 and cut it to 3 miles but survived. In 2004 the inside of my glasses were rimed with ice. Pixie dust was happening. What could have been without some clouds!
  6. Strangely enough I’m considering a super late night for this that I no longer do for snow.
  7. Damn-I have a meeting at the university at Noon. WAs look forward to weenieing out on my car thermometer especially on the way home. Hopefully no cancellation.
  8. Or maybe a generator? I suspect a full house generator would add more resale value and adding a wood stove is icing on the cake.
  9. I just checked my records-9 inches 2/1/21
  10. I’m not sure this is the reason. I mean that’s the same stuff we heard 30 years ago. A successful lawsuit has to based on facts and actual damage that can be explicitly tied to what one party is suing some party for. If half the scouts suffer real frostbite I think BSA can legitimately called negligent given the long time we’ve seen this extreme cold coming. So moving it to a different weekend seems prudent. Look when I was a kid we banged our heads, saw stars, got woozy, and kept going. Many are demented as a result.
  11. As many have said, Friday is an overlooked day. I have a meeting in ORH mid day......should be interesting temperatures on the car thermo coming and going.
  12. Man UKMET kind of says fuck 50s and 60s, eat some 20s and 30s......
  13. GFS says coldest of the season but not so unusual for the coldest of the season. IOW-not historic. We'll see.
  14. We had a stretch like that in 2010 although I’m not sure we hit 34 days in places. It was during the 2009-10 winter starting in February.
  15. A few hours after this post I awaken to a new snow cover-measured 1.1 mid snowing lightly.
  16. I recall being up at Sunapee during a very cold dump in the 1970s. No one there and after 3 runs I had to pack it in and realized why. Too cold to ski/especially on the way back up the lift…
