A couple years back, some of us were talking about the stone chambers in the area and their supposed celestial alignments. I finally made it to the "Winter Solstice Chamber" in Kent this am and it was definitely an impressive sight with the sunlight perfectly streaming in through the doorway. I did sort of get caught off-guard by the pagan chanting and Druid peace rituals. For some reason, out of about 50 people there, I was the only one who couldn't feel any connection with the spirits.
You at least lit candles to pray to the snow gods, right?

Yeah, that’s a huge pet peeve
I have pretty exact measurements to certain points in each direction for estimates. Has always worked well with either a house or a certain tree or lightpole.

Soil temps around me this morning are 36-37, but I have no idea how that relates to "normal".

Yeah, that was some pretty amazing radiation fog for this time of year. The sun angle is so low that even nearly four hours after sunrise, mesoscale analysis still shows the inversion in place so spots could remain foggy for another hour I would think.
Over the Hudson is still dense, easily less than 1/4 mile in spots on the TZ.

Hit a few slick spots in the real low lying areas, but geez that was some of the thickest fog ive ever seen.

I love twitter right now and the “experts” proclaiming that it’s “impossible” “no way, not going to happen” that the I-95 corridor is not going to have seen well above average snowfall come December 31st. “Above average snowfall definitely coming, buckle up.” Famous last words. Talk about setting yourself up for a gigantic, epic bust making statements like that. Nothing in weather is “impossible” or “no way, not happening” or “definitely happening” weeks in advance. You don’t speak in absolutes in weather, doing so ends up making you look foolish when it doesn’t work out. No one has the weather all figured out. I have a feeling some folks may be eating humble pie 4 weeks from now
Couching predictions with "its looking more and more likely" rather than an "absolute" doesnt make you any less incorrect.

You just literally argued against said torch in the SNE threads. Maybe go play outside for a bit or something? Lol

Damn, that doesn’t sound good for the unaccounted for person. The place had multiple OSHA violations.
Also had a pretty brutal murder about a decade ago.

I was at the animal hospital just down the road from there shortly after the second explosion occurred. Stat flight was landing there in the parking lot to take two of the injured firefighters to the burn center in Valhalla. It was a rapid response by multiple agency's.
my daughter's friend's parents know of the person who is missing. He was working in the area of the explosion in the building.
The smoke was to my north so it was ok here.
my wife is good friends with a manager at that animal hospital, was texting back and forth today to see if they needed anything (wife works at a hospital down here). Not sure what the outcome was after the shelter in place but im sure it was a sh*t day all around up there.

LOL. St. Paddys Day mixes are in full rotation by the middle of February. But there is a lot of material to work with, how many different Christmas songs are there really out there? I know there are different people doing the songs their own way but whats the over/under on how many songs there actually are?
I have shilelagh law xmas music in my mix dont worry lol.
i enjoy the entire season. I decorate pretty early. Life too hectic as it is, shortening the season and going through the trouble of decorating and listening to the music for just a couple weeks seems lame.

The onslaught of kids playing fake meteorologist on social media is really turning this science into a joke. People who don’t know any better, follow them thinking they are legit and actually believe their proclamations of historic blizzards and biblical cold coming from November to April. The clueless, fake predictions never come to fruition of course, then people start saying “it’s all hype”, “meteorologists get paid to be totally wrong, they know nothing”, “computer models suck”, “they are never right”. They are doing some serious damage to this field because 90% of the general public that sees their garbage don’t realize they aren’t really mets and their forecasts are fake wishcasts and hype meant to panic people. It becomes the boy who cried wolf in the public’s eyes when there really is a major snowstorm or severe cold coming and the real mets are trying to warn people. It’s really a shame and it’s becoming an epidemic.
