Not here my friend and I'm in one of the colder spots of the boroughs. Main roads are wet still, I was just out in it. Not complaining, just saying it's taking a while to stick here at least.
Roads arent where snow is measured.

No doubt but ground still wet for the most part and this is a quick mover. I can't see 12" anywhere close to NYC unless the rates are absurd. It'll be a good storm regardless. Some areas north of the city look primed for 12+.
The ground is snowcovered in all 5 boroughs.

Yeah, those numbers are way high. I don't see a good chunk of the metro getting 12"+. Maybe up to 8 in spots.
Ill def take the over in parts of the metro getting 8+ lol

Bit of a hole NENJ through southern Westchester the past hour or two. Best banding just to the NW through EPA, NWNJ, Orange, Putnam.
The band that was over orange finally dropped a bit to here and rockland, probably 3/4” an hour rates now, was dealing with the exhaust from that band for 2 hours to our north.

Attempted the gym. Turned around lol. My wet roads have a few inches of non accumulating snow on them. Weird.

32, roads covered. Warmth and sun angle screw us again…

Its definitely amusing seeing some ppl who whined about it being too far north yesterday and “no one lives up north” now celebrating, gotta admit.

The model output (and subsequent measuring) is not for roads. Enough. We know it wont stick as well on major roads. We dont measure on the cross bronx. If you want to discuss the dynamics, fine. But saying the modeled snow totals wont happen because “roads” is tiresome.

those clown maps are misleading - in central NJ as of 10 P.M. - MT. Holly is going with little or no snow accumulation
Its a computerized output. Its by definition not misleading. Just because it doesnt match up with what the meteorologists have put out doesnt make it anything besides potentially correct or incorrect.

I would issue a word of caution to everyone living in the NYC metro area and down to the coast while viewing the NAM and HRRR. Even if that very heavy snow verifies, it would take several hours of that to accumulate considering it's not a nighttime storm, temperatures will be starting off in the upper 30s, and at its coldest, we're likely to get down to around 34. Accumulation, even if the snow is that heavy and persistent, would still only lead to accumulations on vegetation and colder surfaces. I wouldn't expect much in the way of road impacts
Yeah thats not really true at all.

Glass houses and the stones being thrown from within them will be deleted. Grow the eff up, log off if you find something in here not discussion worthy. Done with the bs.

Next one who asks for a moderator in here without reporting any offending posts has to venmo me the equivalent of a 15 hour overtime tour at my work, since apparently this must be our full time job here? Thanks in advance.

So odd that so many are saying winter is over for the sub forum when my second largest snowfall of the season could be in the way and it wouldn’t take much to make it the biggest snowfall of the season. Last I checked Putnam and Dutchess counties should be included in this sub forum.
They are.
if you dont want to discuss a storm potential, or are only here to mock those who do, we can gladly help you stay out of the threads here.

A solid 8 hours of snowfall today, no complaints from me. 1.4" melted down to .10, nice ratios for these days. Anyone else nerdy enough to have ratios to share?
Nope. I just assume every storm is 7:1 and go from there. Lol

Rt 17 in ramsey area was actually snow covered a bit. Not gonna get anything like we all hoped but at least the light snow is heavy enough to accumulate a bit.

2/13 Significant/Major Winter Storm Discussion & Observations
in New York City Metro
Posted
Maybe one day the models will have enough resolution to forecast 2” for 5th avenue, 1” for the belt parkway, and 5” for gun hill road itself. Until then….roads covered or uncovered do not make or break a snowfall forecast, regardless of kuchera, 10:1, snow depth, etc.
