  1. Woke up to a heavy frost this morning, low of 26°, currently we stand at 43° with a forecasted high of 53°..
  2. At this point I'd be happy just seeing some wintry Precipitation which is a distinct possibility.. Bringing this down to our local level, the digging trough will support low pressure to move through Canada on Thursday. As the low moves east on Thursday, it will drag its cold front across the region. In the wake of the rain showers ahead of the front, much colder air will fill in to the region and linger around through Saturday. Frequent showers will be across the region late Friday through Sunday as a cyclonic wind regime and wrap around moisture on the backside of the low as well as a couple of passages of mid level shortwaves. As hinted at previously, it will be cold enough to cause some of these showers to fall as snow and quite possibly be lake enhances as the temperatures in the low levels support this. In the higher elevations it is quite possible for some snow accumulations during this showery period. Shower activity will decrease some on Saturday and Sunday as the deeper moisture is pulled away from the region.
  3. We can pass it on to felines but no evidence they can pass it on to humans.. Tiger at the Bronx zoo tested positive.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8189973/Tiger-named-Nadia-tests-positive-coronavirus-Bronx-Zoo-developed-dry-cough.html?ito=push-notification&ci=12318&si=5206141
  4. 2 confirmed cases the last 24 hours, obviously most of this is waiting for results, negative results up by 50 and pending cut in half...
  5. A month or so ago this would of held some decent potential..
  6. European much weaker with the wrap around Precipitation compared to the gfs/ukmet..
  7. Ukmet with almost an inch liquid in the form of snow for ksyr, all fantasy but some wrap around flakes possible..
  8. Heading into Friday, the cold temperatures will remain across the region. The surface low pressure system will be to our east allowing for wrap around moisture on the backside of the low to be in our region. This combined with the cyclonic flow will produce the next chances of showers across the region. Some showers may even be lake enhanced as low level temperatures are favorable, and with the colder air mass dominating the region accumulating snows are possible, especially in the higher terrain. Lake showers look to diminish throughout the day on Saturday.
  9. Up 1 in the last 24 hours, which has been the norm over the last few days..
  10. You can see where the real rural sections are lol Here in Albion twp yet to have a confirmed case, hoping to keep it that way..
  11. A domestic cat in Belgium has been infected with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus that's spreading across the globe, the government's FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment announced March 27, according to news reports. This is the first human-to-cat transmission of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). About a week after its owner got sick with COVID-19, after returning from a trip to Northern Italy, the cat developed coronavirus symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting and respiratory issues, Steven Van Gucht, virologist and federal spokesperson for the coronavirus epidemic in Belgium, told Live Science. The owner sent samples of vomit and feces to Dr. Daniel Desmecht's lab at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Liège. Genetic tests showed high levels of SARS-CoV-2 in those samples, he said. "The cat recovered after 9 days," Van Gucht said.
  12. Cats can be infected with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and spread it to other cats, but dogs are not really susceptible to the infection, according to researchers in China. The team, at Harbin Veterinary Research Institute in China, also concludes that chickens, pigs, and ducks are not likely to catch the virus. Scientists say the findings are interesting, but that cat-owners should not be alarmed just yet. The results are based on lab experiments in which a small number of animals were deliberately infected with high doses of the virus, SARS-CoV-2, and do not represent real-life interactions between people and their pets, says virologist Linda Saif at The Ohio State University in Columbus. There is no direct evidence that the infected cats secreted enough coronavirus to infect people, she says. The team, led by virologist Bu Zhigao, infected five domestic cats with SARS-CoV-2 through the nose. When two of the cats were euthanized six days later, the researchers found viral RNA, as well as infectious virus particles, in their upper respiratory tracts. The other three infected cats were put in cages next to three uninfected felines. The team later detected viral RNA in one of the non-infected cats, which suggests that they contracted the virus from the infected cats through respiratory droplets. All four cats also produced antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in cats should be considered as part of efforts to eliminate COVID-19 in humans, the authors note in the preprint, which has not been peer reviewed. NO SYMPTOMS But Saif says that none of the infected cats showed symptoms of illness, and that only one out of the three felines exposed to infected animals caught the virus. “This suggests the virus may not be highly transmissible in cats,” she says. Furthermore, the mode of transmission is unclear because the study does not describe how how the cages were set up, and the uninfected cats could have contracted the virus from contaminated faeces or urine.
  13. We are all in the battle here and the battle is stopping the spread of the virus,” he said. The number of hospitalizations was increasing at a slower rate, as well: The number of patients currently hospitalized in New York increased by only 7 percent since Friday, the smallest increase in at least two weeks. From March 22 to 28, for instance, the number of people hospitalized was rising by an average of 27 percent per day.
  14. At the very least it shows what Italy is doing is working, RO was 3 and now a 1, I think the flu is something like 1.3...
  15. Yeah thanks didn't even realize that lol Still positive news, hopefully those numbers start to come our way... The number of patients hospitalized in intensive care has declined for the first time since the beginning of the epidemic in Italy
  16. An estimated 30,000 lives have been saved as an effect of the lockdown measures, according to Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) [source] [source]
  17. Updated today, some positive news.. The target of bringing down the reproductive number (R0) to 1 has been reached. Now the goal is to bring it below 1. This value represents the average number of people to which a single infected person will transmit the virus. An epidemic with a reproductive number below 1 will gradually disappear [source] [source
  18. How contagious is the Wuhan Coronavirus? (Ro) The attack rate or transmissibility (how rapidly the disease spreads) of a virus is indicated by its reproductive number (Ro, pronounced R-nought or r-zero), which represents the average number of people to which a single infected person will transmit the virus. WHO's estimated (on Jan. 23) Ro to be between 1.4 and 2.5. [13] Other studies have estimated a Ro between 3.6 and 4.0, and between 2.24 to 3.58. [23]. Preliminary studies had estimated Ro to be between 1.5 and 3.5. [5][6][7] An outbreak with a reproductive number of below 1 will gradually disappear. For comparison, the Ro for the common flu is 1.3 and for SARS it was 2.0.
  19. On Friday, the F.D.A. issued an emergency use authorization for KN95 masks. Regulated by the Chinese government, they are almost identical in performance to N95 masks. There are slight differences in their specifications, like a variation in the maximum pressure the masks must be able to withstand as a person inhales and exhales. The C.D.C. lists KN95 masks as a suitable alternative when N95s are not available.
  20. Enough to still keep me interested over the next 7-10 days lol
  21. Nice to see this at least, just in case it is needed..As of right now it shouldn't be.
  22. What a joke lol $37 late fee because I missed the cutoff for the day by a few minutes lol Yet I'm allowed to be 16 days late on my mortgage payment without penalty from the same bank..
