  1. Majority of people that are contracting this disease are "person to person", so if we practice good social distancing and keep our hands away from our face (until we sanitize) , we will be fine.. I've made it a habit not to touch my face anymore lol I I went to the gas station yesterday, in and out in 2 minutes, stayed the hell away from the one customer and wore gloves...Once I got out, disposed of the gloves, used hand sanitizer, washed hands and no face touching..Now at home I have nothing to worry about..

  7. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is threatening to sue Rhode Island over its new coronavirus policy that calls for police to stop cars with New York license plates and has seen National Guard members go door-to-door to ask if anyone has arrived from the Empire State. Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo -- like Cuomo, a Democrat -- announced the drastic new policies last week to limit the spread of the coronavirus. New York is the epicenter of the outbreak in the U.S., confirming more than 52,000 cases of COVID-19 and recording more than 700 deaths. "I understand the goal ... but there’s a point of absurdity, and I think what Rhode Island did is at that point of absurdity," said Cuomo. “We have to keep the ideas and the policies we implement positive rather than reactionary and emotional.”
  8. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday extended the New York State's "PAUSE" directive requiring all non-essential employees to work from home for two weeks, to April 15, as the number of positive cases in the state rose to 59,513. Cuomo made the announcement at a news conference Sunday afternoon — less than a day after the Centers for Disease Control and Protection issued a 14-day travel advisory for New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the tri-state surpassed 65,000. The "PAUSE" directive also bans non-essential gatherings, Cuomo noted.
  9. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the NBA Together initiative is asking NBA players who have recovered from coronavirus to consider donating plasma: NBA Together was created in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, as the NBA suspended the 2019-20 season. One of the efforts NBA Together is supporting is the COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Project. This project has brought together top medical specialists to determine if plasma donations could help in treating coronavirus. Several NBA players have tested positive for COVID-19. This group includes Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets, Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics and Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons. All players reported either feeling no symptoms or have recovered from the affliction.
  10. Former New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury is trying to arrange a deal that would deliver 10 million N95 masks to New York City, but he has run into issues coordinating a deal between a Chinese company and the coronavirus-struck city. Marbury told the New York Post that he arranged for a supplier in China to sell the masks for $2.75 each, nearly two-thirds less than their standard price tag. ADVERTISEMENT "At the end of the day, I am from Brooklyn," Marbury told the Post from Beijing, where he coaches the Chinese Basketball Association's Royal Fighters. "This is something that is close and dear to my heart as far as being able to help New York." Marbury added: "I have family there in Coney Island, a lot of family ... who are affected by this, so I know how important it is for people to have masks during this time." Marbury reached out to Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams to help coordinate the sale. But Adams told the Post that he was initially informed by city and state officials that they did not need the masks. When the Post contacted state Department of Health officials, however, they said state officials "want to talk to Stephon." The department was put in touch with Adams' office to continue talks.
  11. OSWEGO - The first case of COVID-19 in the city of Oswego was confirmed Saturday afternoon as the number of cases in Oswego County climbed to nine. Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow announced the first positive case of the novel coronavirus within the city's borders in a press release Saturday. Barlow said the first case within the city "should make people realize that this virus knows no boundaries," and encouraged residents abide by social distancing recommendations. People should take social distancing measures even more seriously now that we know the virus is in fact in our community," Barlow said. "I hope the first positive case catches the attention of our residents, we socially distance more than we already are and we realize how important it is to heed all the warnings and follow all rules that have been put in place to date." Fulton Mayor Deana Michaels announced via a Facebook post on Friday that the first case of COVID-19 in the city of Fulton had been confirmed. Michaels commended Fulton residents for following the guidelines set forth by public health officials and practicing social distancing. "Continue to follow social distancing requirements and do not participate in social gatherings of any sort," Michaels said. "Those not adhering to social distancing and not protecting themselves and others will be held accountable." The Fulton mayor said next week the city's police and fire departments would work to implement "stricter social distancing measures." Barlow said Saturday government should always be transparent, especially during public health and other emergencies, and vowed to continue updating the public on the number of cases in the community. "I believe that knowledge is power, transparency is important and that is why I'm compelled to confirm we have a case in our city," he said. Oswego County officials said Saturday that investigations into positive cases of coronavirus "indicate that there is community spread" in Oswego County. Officials said that revelation makes it more important than ever to obey social distancing rules and cancel or avoid all social gatherings. An executive order issued by Barlow on Friday aimed at enforcing social distancing expanded the power of the Oswego Police Department (OPD) and the city's Code Enforcement Office to charge individuals hosting social gatherings with disorderly conduct. The order also directs authorities to collect the names of attendees and report them to the state Department of Health (DOH) to potentially assist in tracking COVID-19 cases. "We will not tolerate inconsiderate and reckless behavior while the majority of our community is taking the necessary steps to stop the spread of COVID-19," Barlow said. "I encourage residents who observe large gatherings, at any hour, taking place in neighborhoods or establishments to reach out to the Oswego Police Department and we will immediately respond." Barlow also directed code enforcement and OPD to monitor businesses who may not be following workforce reduction thresholds or that remain open despite being deemed non-essential by the state. "The longer we do not properly social distance, the longer we shall have to do it," Barlow said Friday. Friday's executive order went into effect immediately. As of Saturday, Barlow said officials had broken up several gatherings in city parks. Barlow said Saturday the number of positive cases is bound to increase, and encouraged residents to "remain calm, be extra cautious and stay home..

  15. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that he spoke with Trump on Saturday morning, but that the two had not discussed a quarantine. "I don't even know what that means. I don't know how that could be legally enforceable," the Democratic governor said during in a news conference in Albany. "And from a medical point view, I don't know what you would be accomplishing." "But I can tell you, I don't even like the sound of it," he added. Trump, however, said that possible quarantine would be "enforceable" and "restrict travel" from those parts of the tri-state area. He also said any quarantine wouldn't affect truckers from outside the New York area. "Restrict travel, because they're having problems down in Florida, a lot of New Yorkers going down. We don't want that," he said. Florida's governor had mandated a 14-day self-quarantine or isolation period for travelers coming to Florida from airports in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. According to media reports, wealthy New Yorkers have fled Manhattan for vacation homes in the Hamptons, the Catskills, the Poconos, Florida and Connecticut. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a call with Trump, the President mentioned the possibility of a quarantine "around the New York City area." "There's a lot of logistics involved and I think the President is well suited to figure that out," DeSantis said during a Saturday briefing. "Whatever works I think we need to do." DeSantis said it's not fair to Floridians "to just be airdropping in people from the hot zones, bringing infections with them." He added that New York officials were working hard and doing a great job but people are "dispersing from there."
