  1. I got lucky and a sucker hole opened up just at the right time this evening. So I as able to get a quick image from the front yard.
  2. As the Cristobal remnants invade the area. When I got out to the pond... While waiting to see if I got any post sunset color, I put on the 24-70mm because I figured it would be on the horizon if I got any at all... Quickly found out I needed to switch back to the 16-35mm because the red got so expansive... Last image of the evening with the red vacating the area...
  3. I almost did not go out to the pond. There as some cloud cover here and I thought it might just persist. But at the last second I got nervous and headed out. Good thing I did. What it looked like when I got out to the pond... But then suddenly there was a bunch of definition to the sky. The yellows... Now on to the orange... And finishing up with a little bit of red...
  4. Departing system timed out rather well this evening. Starting with a sundog on the south side of the Sun as it snuck under the overcast... Around max yellow... What little orange there was... I was really hoping for some strong red but I think the convection in Iowa turned off the spigot just when the red would have started.
  5. Started off this evening with some vivid crepuscular rays... Moved on to some more subtle crepuscular rays... Back to an extremely vivid cloud shadow... Had a little bit of decent color, the beginning... Best definition of the red... As the red was waning... Cheers!
  6. What it looked like when I got out to the pond this evening... Close to local sunset... Max dynamics on the orange... I hoped the red would take off to the west but all I had were these smudges...
  7. Just a smattering of clouds for the sunset this evening. Pre-sunset... Close to local sunset...
  8. Not much to the sunset this evening. Just stayed in the front yard. What little color there was...
  9. in your case, that is tomorrow, right?
  10. Had something to shoot this evening. When I got to the pond, looking southeast... A short but vivid rainbow segment showed up rather suddenly... First look west when it was still blue... Second look west as the yellows came on... Last look west with the colors as deep as they were going to get...
  11. After dinner I went to the pond but only able to get this one click of a tiny Indiana tower before the drops ran me off back home...
  12. Just a little bit of color for the sunset this evening. The yellows just after sunset... The reds as the color started to fade...
  13. Been a long six days since I made a trip out to the pond. Needed to rectify that. Close to local sunset... Keeping an eye out behind my right shoulder, I saw the color coming on to the northeast... As the red was entering the viewfinder looking to the west again... Max extent of red... Max red dynamics just before it faded on the western horizon. Just a little over-the-top... Good night my darlin', wherever you are...
  14. I had a knit ski cap and insulated over-alls on to mow the grass today. It is depressing.
  15. I have not had my hair cut since 1990. So this hair cut thing is a non-issue, non-starter for me.
  16. Even though it was chilly, it was a nice sunset this evening. When I got there, the expanse of the cirrus... The yellow/orange... And looking mostly north for the little red of the evening...
  17. Hey Hoosier. KIND got down to 27. KLAF only dropped to 28. How many times does that happen?
  18. I guess there is no sense in me complaining when there is a freeze warning as far south as Tennessee.
  19. Going just with one image tonight. A view to the east-northeast. About the best I could do with the conditions.
  20. A lot of waiting for not very much this evening. Tried to get the rising full moon with some sunset colors looking to the southeast but the colorswere very muted and I blew out the moon... Post sunset color with some Canadian geese photobombing me. Most of the time I would throw the image out. But seeing how they are toward the side of the image I am going to post them up this time...
  21. How do you tell the difference between and aggressive and a timid hornet?
  22. Tonight is a special with the three trees to the southwest of the parking area at the pond. I did not go down to the water because it looked like the best viewing would be more to the south. I got there when the back edge of the low level moisture was exiting the area... The only thing left for sunset was some cirrus blow off from the MCS a couple of states south of me. At sunset with the cirrus still sort of white... The best orange... The best red...
  23. Approaching system sunset this evening. When I got to the pond looking south... Had a rather bright sundog on the south side of the Sun when I got to the water... I might have gotten a little heavy handed with the contrast and shot it al little bit too dark but I still like the way this looks... More of an overview here... Going to end with a partial of the sky with a rather neat looking burnt orange color...
  24. All of the images from tonight was with the 16-35mm. Last glimpse of the Sun for the day. At 35mm... This shows how the blues can take over when the Sun gets behind the clouds. At 22mm... As I gave up and was walking back to the car. Looking southeast at 16mm...
  25. The back edge of the back side of this last system was right along the Indiana/ Illinois border this evening. Thought there might be a little color sneaking in post sunset. I was right! With the 24-70mm At 43mm. The max orange... With the 100mm at 100mm of course. Max red...
