  1. I ventured out to the pond early to get some white cumulus images. Good thing I did as that is where all three of the images come from for today. Looking east when I got there... Looking south... Looking south again after a period of time had passed...
  2. Plenty of clouds this evening. Throw in some nice color and you have a condition where I share to many images because I can not make up my mind or stop taking cloud images. Hang on to your hats! Ignition of the jet engine... A bright but unicolor sun-dog (or Parhelia ) on the north side of the Sun... The Sun dipping behind a cloud and forming a cloud shadow... Widening out a bit to get more color... And sometimes you have no more to widen out and just have to stick the horizon at the bottom of the image and forgo any thought of a reflection image... Back with the reflection image... The beginning of the red, vertically... And the last of the red, horizontally... Hope I did not bore you to tears.
  3. After to rain-out days, it as good to get back to the pond this evening. Some color creeping into the view to the east... Nice design with the beginning of the post sunset to the west... Orange... And ending the evening with the red...
  4. Relative humidity finally fell below 80 percent for the first time since midnight of 7-31/8-1 at KIND. So much for the July/August hot and drys.
  5. Thought the evening would be a wash-out but a couple of holes opened up around sunset so I made the trek out to the pond. When I got there looking south... Some color looking southeast... What little color there was to the west...
  6. Had some clouds to shoot during this sunset. Not much color to work with. I guess that makes it a 50/50 sunset. Was vivid when I got out to the pond... Even looked great vertically ( or as they call it, portrait mode) Ending horizontally... Ending vertically...
  7. No clouds at all for the sunset this evening. So I took a pass and did not go out to the pond. But I did go out there around the noon hour when there was a slight and brief burst of cumulus. Figured it was time to show what the pond looks like in daylight.
  8. I think the cell on the South Dakota/Iowa border was more impressive.
  9. Go outside, get a tan. Splash in a puddle. Live a little bit!
  10. Same thing here. Only 1.76" in my tippy bucket though. It did rain straight down and quite hard for a bit here also. Kind of reminded me of Taiwan type afternoon *showers*.
  11. I was hoping the backside of the system that dumped a decent amount of rain today would time out well for the sunset. Was kind of wishful thinking. There was a thinning of the clouds looking south of all directions during the best color... Did not get an opening westward till it was too late. This really does not translate well just how dark it was...
  12. Tonight as a fight with condensation, taking lens that had cold-soaked in A/C all day and out in extremely hot and humid conditions. I did not miss anything important but it was irritating seeing how I used all three lens and had to wait three times for lens to equalize. First image is off to the north with the 16-35mm... Next was off to the west with the 24-70mm... The extreme post sunset was with the 100mm...
  13. Some nice color with the sunset. Post sunset with the clouds still white... Some orange creeping in... Vertical with the beginning of the red... Horizontally with more red... Last dregs of reds... Say Goodnight Gracie...
  14. Extreme minimalist sunset this evening. Local Sunset... Post sunset clouds... And the moon at 35mm...
  15. Not much to the sunset this evening. Just these clouds to the northwest... And these clouds to the east...
  16. Thanks for Illinois not hogging all the rain this time. Two day total in my backyard is 2.61 in the tippy bucket and a tad over 2.00 in the flower bed gauge. That flower bed gauge always seems to read low.
  17. After a wash out the night before, I was back at the pond this evening. A bit of a rainbow when I got there... Local sunset... Starting to go orange. And I like the shower on the left side of the image... I kept my head on a swivel and noticed the clouds to the east were getting lit up big time... Back to the west for max red... And ending the night with the scrap reds and the smoke/haze on the horizon...
  18. Some more nice color tonight. The yellow... The orange starting to creep in... The serious orange with the red slithering in from the top... The departing red/almost purple... Way past sunset and this is all incidental light. Usually the blues go all wonky this late but this image seems to be close to balanced...
  19. Was not sure what was going to happen with the sunset this evening. But of course I was out there just in case. When I first got out there everything was grey and blue and kind of boring... After some time started getting some broad crepuscular rays from over the horizon... Suddenly the Sun rounded the corner on the horizon and it was like someone flipped a switch. More crepuscular rays... What happened next made all the effort of keeping the rain drops off of the camera and not heading indoors when the thunder roared. This made my jaw drop. I could feel the texture in the sky as it was all encompassing. Even at 16mm as I am here I still chopped a lot of it out. It was glorious... The red was not too shabby itself. Well worth the missed sleep with these late colors... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...
  20. The system to my west stayed away just far enough to give me another colorful sunset. Local sunset... The yellow... The Orange... The reds... In this image I think a penguin is chasing something in the western sky...
  21. I had hoped it would be severe clear so I could catch up on some sleep but nooooooooooo. Some clouds were invading from the southwest and made it another colorful sunset. When I got to the pond just after local sunset... Did not take long for the yellow to complete the semi-circle... Max orange... Max red... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...
  22. I had a sneaking suspicion that it might be a decent sunset tonight. When I got to the pond looking west... Looking north... Local sunset... The post sunset as rather vivid...
  23. There was a lot of cirrus for the sunset this evening. What it looked like hen I got there... Had so much to shoot, I had no idea which lens to use. The 24-70 for some close up stuff... Or the 15-35 for some wide angle stuff... Start up of the jet engine... Cool down of the jet engine...
  24. Two decaying clouds when I got out to the pond this evening... Some pre- sunset action to the northwest... Post sunset action to the northwest... Looking due west you can see what looks like smoke or at the least very dense haze on the western horizon...
