  1. Up to 1.36" here now. A nice soaking system.
  2. A little toy train must have set up bisecting the county southwest to northeast last night with me in the center getting 0.90" in the tippy bucket so far. Agrees well with the radar estimates out of KIND. Now to see if we add anything meaningful on the backside of the system.
  3. Made it out for another sunset this evening. Look at all those ripples! Looking southwest right as I got out to the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 28mm... Looking northwest as I got down to the water. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Cheers!
  4. Approaching system again this evening. Looking to the south as I arrived at the pond. Taken with the 16-35mm at 29mm... Looking to the west close to the best dynamics of the evening. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... Cheers!
  5. Second day in a row of 85 at KIND. I'll gladly take this for the end of September.
  6. The only clouds today were during the sunrise. And they were rather far in the distance and fading east fast. But I did get this one image. Taken with the 100mm...
  7. Busy, busy day behind the viewfinder. There was a wave rotating through the area and I was on the very southern part of it. Started off the day around noon when some cirrus was the vanguard of the wave and put some texture in the sky. Looking northwest. Taken with the 16-35mm at 21mm... Looking northeast and using a circular polarizer to make the sky pop a little bit more. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Looking east above the police station and using the circular polarizer again. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... And now onto the evening and back out at the pond. Looking southeast when I got out there. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking north northwest. Taken with the 16-35mm at 21mm... Start off the color portion of the evening with a parhelia (sundog) on the southside of the Sun. Taken with the 24-70mm at 45mm... And now onto the max color dynamics of the post sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... And ending the evening with the fading color moving off to the western horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 60mm... Good night my darlin' where ever you are...
  8. With approaching systems you have to hang your hat on the cirrus if it times out right for you. It kind of came sort of close this evening. With the Sun *up*. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... With the Sun *down*. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm and a lot of cropping top and bottom...
  9. Funny how the conditions were similar to last night, but this sunset did not take off with the colors. The atmosphere can be extremely fickle at times. Still I was out there to document though. Taken with the 16-35mm at 26mm... Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm...
  10. Got to get as much imaging in as possible. This run of nice days have to come to a crash-stop and probably fairly soon. Today was not that day though. First image was at noon. I wanted to get one in case the sunset was socked in. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... I was out for the sunset in case the Sun could round the corner of the cloud shield and sneak in some nice color. Here it looks like it might happen. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... The result was beyond my expectation. It did not last long but it was amaing while it did it's thing. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... As the red was fading, Still thought it looked cool. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Good night my darlin', where ever you are....
  11. weathafella, thank you for doing this again. Reminds me to get that SAD kit all refurbished and the winter reading pile updated.
  12. I had no idea what this sunset might have it's mind set on doing. Right after work I just went to the pond because it was a nice day and there has to be an expiration date on nice days that will soon come due. Glad I did go out there as the visuals ere rather decent. As the Sun as disappearing in the trees on the horizon and some faint crepuscular rays. Taken with the 24-70mm at 60mm... The yellows of the post sunset looking southwest. Taken with the 16-35mm at 23mm... The oranges of post sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 27mm... Ending the night with the reds. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Good night my darlin', where ever you are...
  13. Today was about crepuscular rays. As I as driving home from work the Sun rode into the one last cumulus complex on the western horizon. With the dews creeping back into the mid to upper 60's here was some haze that made the rays a little more visible When I got home and grabbed the camera and threw it up in the sideyard. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... Eleven minutes later you can see the cumulus has noticeably shrunk and will disappear in short order. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm...
  14. Only 0.20" in my tippy bucket last night but KIND had 1.04". Kind of the way summer has gone here.
  15. Unless so noted, most of the shots are from Lebanon, IN. About 30 miles north of KIND as the crow flies. Is that what you mean by where are the clouds?
  16. Plenty of cirrus for the sunset this evening. But it depended on the smoke not mucking things up. When I got out there, a tiny sundog on the south side. Taken with the 16-35mm at 32mm... Starting with the post sunset color. Taken with the 16-35mm at 31mm... Some squid red at the top of the frame. Taken with the 16-35mm at 18mm... Back down on the horizon for the last of the color. taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... A little more focal length for the last smidgen. Taken with the 24-70mm at 55mm... Cheers!
  17. I suppose someone has to be the uber-extreme warmista and Spartman gets to take home that trophy. Me, I am perfectly happy with above temps this time of year so I am going to runs with my 88 at KIND today. Side note, a perfect drying day with the dews around 60 all day and the 20mph breeze. A postcard day for drying the crops in the field or the odd person painting a fence. I was that person.
  18. The smoke killed the post sunset stuff. But there was some clouds that were around right after work, pre-sunset. hen I got out to the pond. Some faint crepuscular rays in the middle of the image. Taken with the 100mm... Just before everything stated evaporating away. Taken with the 16-35mm at 29mm...
  19. Kind of a nice evening with the sunset clouds. When I got to the pond looking south. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... Same cloud but now looking southeast. Also had both filters on the camera. The circular polarizer and the GND. Taken with the 24-70mm at 46mm... First look to the northwest. Both filters again. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... About the max red and that is not saying much. The big thing was the smoke curtain that made it to the Illinois/Indiana state line. That is some ugly stuff hugging the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... The last glimpse of the Sun as it sinks into the trees. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!
  20. After a wash-out with a soaking rain all day Saturday, it was nice to be back outside and shooting images of the sky. Around noon with the brilliant white of the cirrus up high and the dirty white/yellow of the cumulus down low. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... The gold/bronze hour as nice. Just a smattering of clouds left. Taken with the 100mm... There was a thin ribbon of smoke riding the jet post sunset. Too bad it sagged just south of the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 52mm... Cheers!
  21. Am I confused or is that first July in your statement suppose to be August?
  22. Tonight was a squeeze play. A pseudo dryline just to my south all day. Ida gunk streaming up from the southeast and a disturbance shouldering it's way in from Illinois. Still got some decent images. Started off looking west with some crepuscular rays. Not quite Close Encounters of the Third Kind but still nice to look at. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Even had a bit of a gold/bronze hour. Taken with the 100mm... Last good peek at the Sun. Taken with the 100mm... Last of the color before everything was shut off. Taken with the 24-70mm at 58mm... Cheers!
  23. Almost missed this sunset due to a shooting in my backyard this afternoon. They had police-taped my garage/driveway closed. Fortunately they left just enough room that I was able to drive the car through the yard to get out. I thought there might be a chance for the Sun to just barely make the corner of the cloud shield. Good thing I had that thought. Right around sunset the Sun did make the corner in time. Illuminated some scud. Taken wwith the 24-70mm at 70mm... The beginning of the yellows post sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... The oranges. Taken with the 24-70mm at 55mm... As the color was retreating to the horizon. Taken with the 100mm...
