  1. This storm in Germantown is so lovely. Tons of lightning and wind and rain and it popped up out of nowhere. I heard the first crack of thunder before there was anything on the radar.
  2. I had 4 distinct thunderstorms train over me in Germantown last night. It was so awesome. The first split/fringed me, but then 3 more in a row.
  3. What a wonderful memorial day weekend. Had two amazing hikes, one on the Seneca Creek trail and one on Muddy Branch. I finally have my son able to do 3 mile hikes and he's only 4 - he'll be able to outlast me before he knows it. Then on Memorial Day, we went to Black Rock Regional Park. It was soooo busy but the great thing is, the park and lake are huge and so even with so many people, we didn't even get nearly close to anyone else and got a nice spot down by the lake to picnic at.
  4. I just want warm, sustained weather so I can really enjoy hiking season. This year I want to greatly expand the number of trails in the area I've done.
  5. On the flip side, yesterday was the first day I’ve driven through actual rush hour traffic on the beltway. It was really light but not empty like it has been.
  6. Found a nice, little-hiked loop trail in the Potomac-Darnestown-Poolesville area. Going to do that then order carry out from Founding Farmers!
  7. Y'all I'm wearing shorts and a T shirt and SO excited about today. I needed a nice warm one.
  8. Yeah Elrich’ statement makes me think the daycares in MoCo aren’t even close to reopening.
  9. I don't know about others but the meadery I go to is about 7 minutes from my house.
  10. I think alcohol is listed as essential lol. I don't even drink and even I have needed a couple drinks this pandemic.
  11. My drink of choice tonight.
  12. As always, LMK if you hear something about daycares.
  13. Oh cool you've hiked it too?
  14. Easily! It’s quite shallow in many spots though, really only knee deep. I’m not sure what level of fish actually exist in it.
  15. Here's the trail I've been doing if any of you need a good one with very few people and need to get out of the house: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/seneca-creek-greenway-trail-watkins-mill-road-to-frederick-road?u=i Note: there are many more sections of the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail and you can hop on or off any of them. This section is one of the more traveled ones but even here you might only see 3-4 people on the course of your hike.
  16. Seneca Creek Greenway Trail. It is absolutely devoid of people. Perfect hiking place in the pandemic.
  17. Went on a wonderful hike, got a bottle of mead from the local meadery (Clearskies Meadery), got crab cake curbside delivered from Coastal Flats. Today was a wonderful day.
  18. Seneca Creek Greenway trail here in Germantown. Almost entirely empty but don’t expect a vista, it’s a nice long nature trail. Weverton Cliffs up near Harpers Ferry. MD side. The reason it’s empty is because most people, if they go all the way to Harpers Ferry, will do the two big popular hikes there, leaving this trail an undiscovered goldmine with 10x less people.
  19. Lovely day outside today. I am definitely going to go on a hike!
  20. Honestly I just got it on fb but the links to the dates are on the bottom of the graphic.
  21. Don’t know if y’all saw the roadmap graphic but it’s looking to me like Sept may be the time daycare’s open in Maryland. So... my son might be done with daycare.
  22. I’m going to grab some mead today but for the MoCo people are there any local craft breweries I should try something from doing curbside?
  23. My Saints open with Brees v Brady
  24. Still wondering about daycares.
