  1. What time was this? At 10:00 I saw essentially barely a smudge, it was oriented like the comet so I’m pretty sure I saw it but it was very hard to see.
  2. This is one of my favorite things about living up here though. In Louisiana, the year I left, we had 110 straight days with 90 degree highs or higher. I love that the 90 degree weather is limited here. It has been rather warm lately, but I've actually found in recent days we've had a lot of nice drier days so it hasn't been as oppressive as it could otherwise be.
  3. I want to check out Comet Neowise tonight. Is there a good place in the region I can find a dark sky and an unobstructed view of the horizon?
  4. Got to submit my first ever LSR. Hail report in Haymarket.
  5. This year has been so far the best thunderstorm year since I’ve moved here. I missed semi-daily thunder, it’s the one thing about Louisiana I miss most.
  6. It’s been a very slow mover. Kind of just meandering. I’ve loved it, one of the better rain and lightning storms this last week.
  7. This storm in Germantown is so lovely. Tons of lightning and wind and rain and it popped up out of nowhere. I heard the first crack of thunder before there was anything on the radar.
  8. I had 4 distinct thunderstorms train over me in Germantown last night. It was so awesome. The first split/fringed me, but then 3 more in a row.
  9. What a wonderful memorial day weekend. Had two amazing hikes, one on the Seneca Creek trail and one on Muddy Branch. I finally have my son able to do 3 mile hikes and he's only 4 - he'll be able to outlast me before he knows it. Then on Memorial Day, we went to Black Rock Regional Park. It was soooo busy but the great thing is, the park and lake are huge and so even with so many people, we didn't even get nearly close to anyone else and got a nice spot down by the lake to picnic at.
  10. I just want warm, sustained weather so I can really enjoy hiking season. This year I want to greatly expand the number of trails in the area I've done.
  11. On the flip side, yesterday was the first day I’ve driven through actual rush hour traffic on the beltway. It was really light but not empty like it has been.
  12. Found a nice, little-hiked loop trail in the Potomac-Darnestown-Poolesville area. Going to do that then order carry out from Founding Farmers!
  13. Y'all I'm wearing shorts and a T shirt and SO excited about today. I needed a nice warm one.
  14. Yeah Elrich’ statement makes me think the daycares in MoCo aren’t even close to reopening.
  15. I don't know about others but the meadery I go to is about 7 minutes from my house.
  16. I think alcohol is listed as essential lol. I don't even drink and even I have needed a couple drinks this pandemic.
  17. My drink of choice tonight.
  18. As always, LMK if you hear something about daycares.
  19. Oh cool you've hiked it too?
  20. Easily! It’s quite shallow in many spots though, really only knee deep. I’m not sure what level of fish actually exist in it.
  21. Here's the trail I've been doing if any of you need a good one with very few people and need to get out of the house: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/maryland/seneca-creek-greenway-trail-watkins-mill-road-to-frederick-road?u=i Note: there are many more sections of the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail and you can hop on or off any of them. This section is one of the more traveled ones but even here you might only see 3-4 people on the course of your hike.
  22. Seneca Creek Greenway Trail. It is absolutely devoid of people. Perfect hiking place in the pandemic.
  23. Went on a wonderful hike, got a bottle of mead from the local meadery (Clearskies Meadery), got crab cake curbside delivered from Coastal Flats. Today was a wonderful day.
