Way too much Bustardi talk in this thread, dude is trash and has been for years. Not worth even acknowledging anymore with his clearly biased approach.
Not supporting the dude at all. Simply a good laugh during this horrible winter.

Recap of this storm for Champaign
1) Ice accretion early on Friday evening
2) Saturday temps warm to the lower 40’s with 1.5” rainfall
3) temps crash after precipitation ends causing flash freeze, with the cold snap on brown ground
4) the packers are in the NFC championship game
5) I hate this winter. It sucks.

WWA advisory issued for .01-.02” ice, along with a flood warning for an additional 1-1.5” of rainfall. I guess a flash freeze on Saturday will be a highlight of this winter?

It’s hard not to be discouraged. Ryan Maue tweeted earlier about the euro ensembles latching onto warmth flooding the eastern 2/3 by next weekend.
One would think with a solar minimum, neutral ENSO, things would align better than this.

He did a pivot from 2014-2015 and is now claiming 65-66 is a top analog. WB has been pounding the table, just like 65-66 winter will come roaring the 2nd half of the season! It’s comical.

Same and most came on Halloween
Yep same. Halloween dropped 1.5” here. So from 11/1- 1/14 just an abysmal 4”

With a likely miss to the north with the weekend system, I will be heading into the latter part of January with 5.4” of snow. This is brutal.

Don’t worry guys, Bastardi still riding his 1976-77 and 2014-2015 analogs. Denial at its finest.

Temps running 5.1 degrees above average for the month. Pretty brutal.

One of the wintriest Novembers on record followed by a terrible Dec. Starting Jan with a clean slate and avg snowfall to date. Jan-Apr eill dictate any meltdowns.
You always find the positive in everything. Your right, winter started with a bang around Halloween. Makes you wonder, did winter blow its load early?

Looking mild around here until at least January 5th. Wonder who has the first epic melt down of the season? Whatever happens please for the love of god, don’t let us suffer through another cold, snowy April.

CMI already broke the record of 59 set back in 1942 with a 12PM reading of 62. What a way to end this decade of warm December’s.
-
hit 62 here today. Felt almost unnatural. Woke up to birds chirping, and by lunchtime smokers and grills going in the distance.

Didn't realize how warm Christmas has been lately. Wednesday will mark the 4th out of the last 6 Christmases at MLI AOA 50 degrees. 2014 hit 50, 2016 hit 56, 2018 hit 50, and this Christmas it looks to make a run at 60. Pretty crazy.
I guess next year I'll just assume December will be another dud, and look forward to another warm Christmas. Seems to be the new norm.
Yeah, this trend of awful December’s preceded by awful springs needs to stop. Seems as if almost every December since 2010 is an expansion of fall, and then spring is an expansion of winter lol. Obviously outlier months March 2012, December 2013 etc..-

55 in my forecast for Christmas Day. Stoppped by the butcher shop and picked up 4 gorgeous filets, twice bake taters, fresh asparagus! Grilling out here as well on Wednesday.

Not many in the subforum can dispute that this was not only anomalous, but it was a spread the wealth storm. I would like to see several of these this winter.
It was a fun storm! And as you alluded to, majority of the sub cashed in on the action! Although I only received 2”, it was fun as hell seeing it whipped around with 25-35mph winds.-

Fell to -1 last night. Completely smashing the record of 7 set back in 1911.

Dropped down to 32 last night, the one thing I don’t miss about colder temps is the inevitable car scraping.
Amazing October day. Chili, college football, drinking rum with apple cider and cinnamon sticks with the family.

Didn’t the winter of 2013-2014 get off to an abnormally early start? I think the plains were hit with a massive snowstorm like the first few days of October??
Some similarities between now and 2013 as well as far as ENSO, the blob, solar etc..
EDIT: it was October 3-5 2013. Almost the same areas affected by this blizzard as well.

So frustrating. For the second day in a row we tied a record from 1897 with a reading of 92 degrees. Would have been nice to see a 122 year record fall.

Heavy freezing rain/sleet right now. Sidewalks are ice already.
