Didn't realize how warm Christmas has been lately. Wednesday will mark the 4th out of the last 6 Christmases at MLI AOA 50 degrees. 2014 hit 50, 2016 hit 56, 2018 hit 50, and this Christmas it looks to make a run at 60. Pretty crazy.
I guess next year I'll just assume December will be another dud, and look forward to another warm Christmas. Seems to be the new norm.
Yeah, this trend of awful December’s preceded by awful springs needs to stop. Seems as if almost every December since 2010 is an expansion of fall, and then spring is an expansion of winter lol. Obviously outlier months March 2012, December 2013 etc..- 2

55 in my forecast for Christmas Day. Stoppped by the butcher shop and picked up 4 gorgeous filets, twice bake taters, fresh asparagus! Grilling out here as well on Wednesday.

Not many in the subforum can dispute that this was not only anomalous, but it was a spread the wealth storm. I would like to see several of these this winter.
It was a fun storm! And as you alluded to, majority of the sub cashed in on the action! Although I only received 2”, it was fun as hell seeing it whipped around with 25-35mph winds.- 2

Fell to -1 last night. Completely smashing the record of 7 set back in 1911.

Dropped down to 32 last night, the one thing I don’t miss about colder temps is the inevitable car scraping.
Amazing October day. Chili, college football, drinking rum with apple cider and cinnamon sticks with the family.

Didn’t the winter of 2013-2014 get off to an abnormally early start? I think the plains were hit with a massive snowstorm like the first few days of October??
Some similarities between now and 2013 as well as far as ENSO, the blob, solar etc..
EDIT: it was October 3-5 2013. Almost the same areas affected by this blizzard as well.

So frustrating. For the second day in a row we tied a record from 1897 with a reading of 92 degrees. Would have been nice to see a 122 year record fall.
-
We tied our record of 91 degrees from 1971 yesterday. Ready to usher in the first true push of autumn air.

Moderate drought was popping up in my area as per the latest drought monitor. Not much rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future.
Currently it’s 87 outside. September a lock to finish above normal once again.

For real. Nothing exciting for the next 7+ days. Getting awful dry around here. I leave next Saturday for southern Alabama. We rented a lake house down there for a week. Can’t freaking wait.
-
Had my first notable rain event in 3 weeks today. High pressure parks over the region for the next week, looks like a nice week.
Seriously can’t believe Thursday is August 1st.

Never made it above 92 during this heatwave. Highest HI reading has been 107. Nothing to crazy, almost run of the mill for peak summer heat.

Nice bowing segment plowing through west central Illinois. Wouldn’t mind getting a healthy drink before the heatwave, but it appears the heaviest precipitation will fall to my SW.

Just want to say thanks to those who offered well wishes following my accident. I have a concussion and cervical strain (whiplash) and have been dealing with the effects of those. The time since July 3 is a blur. I went back and read my post from then and really don't even remember that, but according to the information packet I received sometimes all of the symptoms don't start right away. Lights, including screens, have been bothering me. Fortunately that has largely cleared up but I am still having headaches and difficulty concentrating. My past memories (weather and other) are all there, I think. Like I remember the big storms, getting screwed by sleet in the 2011 storm, and stuff like that. All in all, things are starting to get better but the recovery timetable from the neck strain is up in the air. Could be weeks, could be months.
Looks like Barry will be a big rainmaker down south and it looks like it could get pretty hot around here soon.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Hoosier. Your health is the most important thing you can have. Glad things are slowly improving for you. -
Correct 2014-2015 officially classified as a weak El Niño. The last neutral was 2013-2014.

One of the absolute worst starts to summer I can ever remember. Temps running right around -3.5 for the month, wouldn’t be bad if the damn rain would stop.
This pattern has been relentless.Honestly though, I said this back in April, this spring/early summer has been very 2013 ish.

It appears many local farmers around here just took the insurance pay out. Even after the 1 week mild/dry spell many fields remain untouched. Going to be crazy in August to not see very much corn up.
-
Dropped down to 48. Paducah and Cape Girardeau tied their record lows.

Between the flooding out in the plains for the cattle farmers, and the flooding in the Midwest for crop farmers, a wetter than normal June will be a disaster.
Local farmers had a meeting yesterday pertaining to crop insurance, if crops aren’t in the ground by the 5th, the insurance is voided.
Heard a rumor some farmers are opting even planting and just taking an insurance check. It’s bad guys.

Nasty looking cell right over La Grange.

Finished product. Just pulled steaks off the grill for the wife and family. Here’s to a to a rocking January, and hoping I can reel in a much needed big dog this winter.
