  1. I just came back from Shore Acres in Brick NJ where you couldn't tell the difference from the drone what was lagoon and what was street.  I know it looks pretty to live there but why deal with this every year?

Because they are too busy announcing a massive snowstorm for the weekend that was never going to be a massive snow storm.  Massive is 2FT +  not 6-8"

can you show me what station did this around here?

I know they are all focused on the first event and in this thread also. But another issue is the total QPF forecasted for the next week is concerning for the flooding potential from both events. They haven’t really touched base on that on the tv stations.

We are very aware behind the scenes but as one poster said one event at a time for on air purposes.  I've been more concerned about next week than Saturday/Sunday tbh.

  4. The sad thing about this is the fact tv stations who have not been overly hyping this, rather holding fort with the "stay tuned as the situation unfolds and we learn more information" messaging is lost by the fact that social media is plastered with the snowiest model runs starting last weekend by the fakes.  Folks will once again say "where's my snow" without ever even listening to the on air mets, and instead say they were wrong again.

Someone want to start another thread for the 1/9-10 storm? This thread was created for both.

This one has my attention more than Saturday/Sunday event only because of the widespread potential of bad consequences.

  6. Just forked over another $200 for a second night in Allentown at the arena for Saturday night's indoor midget racing event (cars).  Bring it on.  I'll be in the sweet spot regardless what sloppy rain/mangled flakes fall at the beach back home.  Better than worrying about what state plows i-78 better.

That will be dependent on snowfall rates.  Penndot and NJDOT are usually pretty good with pre-treating the roads with brine and then salting during the event.  These treatments will keep the roads mainly wet with temperatures as low as the mid 20’s.

I lived in NEPA from 2007-2014 and it's night and day the difference between NJ and PA road coverage.  Advantage to NJ by far.  Overnight, darkness, heavier rates, I'm definitely concerned.

  8. First snow in two years and I'm scheduled to cover an event at the PPL Allentown PA arena  Friday night and Saturday night - I don't think driving from Allentown PA to Point Beach NJ Saturday at 11 pm will work.  Everything I am seeing puts LV in the bullseye this far out.

  9. Thanks Walt for starting this thread. Things working in our favor for less potential coastal impacts are the moon will be in first quarter phase.  I always pause when these coastal systems are showing up for multi-day events.  Although far from a Dec. 92 event, multiple rounds of high tides and northeast winds will cause issues - not having that added extra foot foot and a half from the moon will help being in mid cycle though.
