Yup. I grew up in West Hartford and went to school in the 90's and 2000's.
1. West Hartford hardly ever cancelled...I mean ever. Hell, it was a blessing if we either had a delay or an early dismissal.
2. There is only one time I distinctly remember it happening. I was in middle school (so sometime between 1999-2002) and we had two days cancelled in a row. Its funny because it was supposed to be a very large storm (I think a two part) and it kind of busted. I think in total we got around 8'' or something...maybe it was 10.
I guess I'm getting old - we had t wait for Bob Steele to read out the names in the 70's on the radio every half hour. That was the only source.

Intensity really dropping off here. Fun while it lasted.

Dry slot racing in looks to mean business. Too bad - this was a pleasant surprise for sure.

I'd be OK if things don't start snapping - a lot of dead ash trees everywhere so anything is possible.

This is the way to run a 33 degree snowstorm. Right around 2 inches here in New Hartford at 1k feet.

Just flipped back to snow here in New Hartford.

Hoping round 2 gives us a couple more, to my untrained eye, radar over eastern NY starting to look a little ragged.
-
Looking out at the snow stake - we have 11 inches in New Hartford.

If you ignore snow totals, you will see it keeps highlighting the same areas around Burlington, New Hartford, up to MA border.
It is time for us to rock one of these storms up here in the hills - maybe this will be the one.

We get more heavy rain on Saturday, I'm going to need to chain the cap on the well head as it has been pouring water out since last weekend. Never had that happen before.

And there goes the power.

So far nothing remarkable here - there was a few minor gusts when it started but now it is just raining with some thunder.
-
It is freaking dark here in New Hartford and quite loud just off to the west. We'll see if anything pops out this.
-
Looking down stream on radar, it looks like the bulk of the heaviest rain is done for Litchfield County - unless I'm missing something. 2.00 inches total here in New Hartford from this morning.

If you have an updated number for the season, let me know. I'll check the New England Snow page but some of you aren't on there @tavwtby@TalcottWx@Connecticut Appleman@JKEisMan@FXWX and anyone else from Litchfield/New London counties
Sorry - I unfortunately don't have a seasonal total that I would trust as I was away for a couple of the smaller events this season.

If we could hold onto this rate of snowing for a while, it could be fun.
-
Maybe the dry slot has moved on from New Hartford - first snow with any intensity since early this morning.

CT peeps should watch southwest of BOX radar and to their N/NE. That is the direction as to which banding will will rotate in from as the mid levels start to crank.
Im seeing some signs of that developing now, but it may take an hour or two.
It will be very important to see how warm temperatures get in the meantime.
Not sure what to expect.
Hopefully it starts to eradicate this dam dry slot. Been on the edge of it here and just very light snow pretty much all morning.

This dry slot is killing me Smalls. I am right on the western edge of it. Why is it that dry slots always seem to be undefeated?

how much do you have on the ground so far there?
Eye balling on the snow stake - we have about seven+ inches right now here in New Hartford.

Looks like the dry slot is winning here in New Hartford right now. Hopefully we can get that out of here quickly.

Just got back from Burlington to New Hartford. Traffic for a Tuesday morning was pretty heavy, but nothing like yesterday.
Absolutely nothing compares to this. Amazing seeing the wall of darkness race out of the Adirondacks across Champlain followed a couple minutes later by the wall of light doing the same. A couple of coworkers were saying that we were at 92% that should be close and I was not really sure. Glad I made the trek because this ain't like grading and exam 92% does not equal 100%.
Great photos everyone - I quickly gave up and just drank it all in.
