  1. absolutely incredible...I don't ever remember such an extended "summer" for most of my life I've lived in TN/Upstate of SC..."Fall weather" (i.e. much lower humidity) always begins by just after Labor Day/by mid-Sept...the lingering humidity has been horrific...I feel like I live in FL
  2. similar to gman, I've rec'd 1.16 inches of rain since rain began here yesterday evening winds gusting to over 20 mph power flickered 4 times this AM
  3. shouldn't all this rain temper daytime heating this summer? (very moist soil) I've rec'd LOTS of rain in the past several weeks...
  4. not sure, it might have been 2013 - I've been a resident in various parts of the Southeast all of my life - that was one of the mildest summers I can recall - it was great!
  5. I recall a summer about 5 years ago ('13 or '14) where it rained nearly every day/every other day/was always cloudy - only had a few weeks of intense heat/humidity - I vividly remember this summer as my kids had nearly all outdoor swimming events delayed/canceled
  6. was this the same storm that Robert predicted chunks of ice falling from the sky and roof collapses on I85 corridor? I've never seen so much sleet in my life - I think I received a little snow at the onset then 3-4 inches of pure sleet - great sledding!
  7. My wife and I lived in Seneca (actually in a lake community north of Seneca) from 2003 thru 2006. I remember that 2004 storm! I worked in Anderson at the time - was released from my position early that morning (mod snow in Anderson); but, after driving home to Seneca, snow rates significantly subsided - I think we rec'd about 1/2 inch, at most. I wanted to stay in Oconee County - amazingly beautiful lakes with easy access to NC mountains (Cashiers, Highlands) - we'd drive up to Highlands at least once a month. However, my wife disliked Seneca/Oconee County (esp after we had our first two children) - then, after a short stay in Chattanooga (and another child!), we moved back to SC, into the city of Greenville - wife is much happier. I have great memories of Lake Keowee and the easy access to mountain activities. Absolutely correct on all points - now that I live in Greenville, I seem to receive more ice/snow.
  8. I strongly feel this winter will be special for most everyone on the board - don't think you will have to wait another 15 years
  9. thanks, I'm new at this - I will also check the Canadian/European models this evening - of course, will also look for any consistency at 0Z
  10. no, the storm was delayed per CJ - I witnessed rain beginning about 5:30am that quickly changed to snow - now, just flurries
  11. I'm just south of DT G'ville - I have mod snow and 32 - sticking on all grassy surfaces - soon roads
  12. Enjoy your time in Tallahassee - the FL Panhandle is great - you are <90 min from the best beaches in the country (IMO much better than any beaches in NC/SC) - drive a little further west and you will reach my retirement spot, 30-A!
  13. my wife reports some sleet near DT Greenville, SC (mods please move to obs)
  14. "Bobby Mac" - that guy needs to retire - I've never heard a more cliche-filled radio show in my life - he is awful - BTW, Bobby Mac's/WORD's "weather" is just as bad - canned, robotic responses from someone out-of-state
  15. right! there is no CAD; west of Apps cold air molasses; not sure what will happen as I am right on the line!
  16. I saw him this morning, very early - he really didn't say anything - I think he quietly mentioned, "...there is a small chance for a rain/snow mix in the mountains..." Honestly, Dale Gilbert needs to retire - he is the ultimate snooze-fest. I'm waiting for an actual snow threat (during the work week!) and watch him utter the word "snow".
