Ambrose jet? What is this, May? You can forget about going to the Long Island beaches to beat the heat with that. You’ll get sand blasted and be dodging flying beach umbrellas by the afternoon.

West winds shot the temp up to 92 at FRG
Yeah. Just noticed that my high for the day of 91.8 wasn’t until 6:40.

Harbor entrance buoy briefly got over 70 today. Ocean warming slowly but steady now.

Water temp at the harbor buoy got up to 68 degrees. 64 at the one 30 miles south. I’m sure it’s just a shallow layer but that is quite the warm up in just a couple weeks.
-
90.1 was my high. Pretty good for being about 3 miles from the bay. For a brief period as the sea breeze was starting, my dew point hit 75.5 with a temp of 89.2 for heat index of 100.

Down 7 degrees in 30 minutes. Gust to 30 at my station. Still rain but there’s sleet mixed in now

Where do I place my bet that February has a higher max temp out here than March? Double or nothing if it beats April too.

..very strong barometric readings..the old "banjo" barometer approaching 31.00..( actually 30.85"..not sure how accurate it is)..
1038.9 on the home station. Just realized that’s a record since I installed it in December of 2020. So we’ve got that going for us.

Does this actually sound like a great vacation or is that just me?

Long Beach. Basically I’m free snow shoveling labor for my mother.
Snow picking back up, one last hurrah maybe. Hopefully we can get another inch.
What are you measuring there? A bunch of friends wanted an exact forecast for Long Beach and I sarcastically said 11.6. Would love to be right lol

Maybe they don't break the record then. Idk.
Ridiculous. Who do we think we are losing track of all these 20 inch blizzards the last decade or so

This live webcam reminds me of driving at night in a snowstorm. The kind when you get home and close your eyes and still see snow in the headlights for about an hour:

I can’t wait to get back to summer when our biggest problem is arguing over whether it’s going to be 89 and humid or 90 and humid.

I just saw a report from Seaford long Island only about 4 miles to my southeast that it is raining. I just looked at temps in the region and south of Hempstead Tpk. route 24, temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s and apparently raining, north of the turnpike it is the low 30s and snowing.
I’ve got two weather stations at the house both at 36. I see all the reports across the island saying snow.. it is rain here. I am just about a mile north of sunrise hwy.

Rain here. 35 degrees. It was 7 degrees 12 hours ago.

Winds have picked up here in the past hour, gusting out of the NNW @ 22MPH. 38 here currently under cloudy sky.
I just gusted to 21 from the NNW and my anemometer is very sheltered from the north. Can hear the wind outside now. That ocean storm means business. Hurricane wind warnings way out.
