Don’t forget toilet paper
I am covered. Back in 2020 I had just started a TP delivery service called Who Gives A Crap. I get a box of TP delivered every 6 weeks.

Yes! It may be sacrilege to say, but chili is ruined by beans.
Yes it is!!
But If you also talk to any sane Texan they would throw the pot at me for adding any meat at all. Technically what I make is Chili con Carne. But I put in more meat to cut down on the beans. Or it would just be chunky tomato soup with chili powder.
Story on finding out how it is a texture issue. So my mom would always make baked beans. And they always smelled so good and I would always put them on my plate. But I would take one bite and then not finish the rest. Took me awhile to find out that while I loved the sauce that they are cooked in, I did not care for the texture.

Damn...now I want to make chili.
My chili is more of a stew, and I like to steer clear of adding too many beans (I throw in black beans in mine). Very different than the kidney bean and ground beef chili that I grew up with and which my wife makes (which is damn good in itself!). I may have to do that later this week...

I am not a fan of beans. Texture thing. That being said I use a couple cans of Bush’s Chili beans. Just enough beans to make Mr J happy but with chili sauce so it makes them tolerable for me. Also I always do mine sausage and beef.

I am finding it harder to want to crawl out of bed during this very cold period. Like worse than in the past. I have two morning school runs on MWF due to the older Miss J having dual enrollment classes that only meet on TTh. So one run at 7 in the cold and then the second run at 8:45 and it is still do darn cold. I have been living in my long jons and slippers and am just wanting it to get to that point where I am comfortable.
Making a big o' pot of chili for dinner tonight.

Ok I know I am a weather geek. But I also love trains and planes.
I have just recently found several live airport streams. One over in England and one from LAX. Airline Videos live. I have spent almost the whole day on the couch watching planes land and take off at LAX. And on top of that I have FlightRadar24 to figure out each flight. Going to make some popcorn!

We enjoy our quiet out here. 15 is perhaps the only real drawback as it can be a real crawl at times. Shout out to Roots 657 (BBQ) for the best food in our little town.
That stretch of 15 can be tough. That turn left off of Lovettesville Rd at the bend just before the Bridge is a lesson in patience. Occasionally you will get that one nice person that will just stop and let you out.

I should get a handicap for putting that word in here

Ginger Ale, Root Beer, Sprite, Dr. Pepper.
I don’t really drink soda pop so the rest of the list would not cross my lips. Especially carbonated Piss Water aka Mt Dew. -
Mr. J and Miss J got home this morning around 2. They are tired but the flight in while bumpy at landing time and his RWD with cleared roads brought them home.
The kid loved Seattle U and has moved it tied with American. She is still waiting to hear from American. So soon we will have to have a round table and spread out all her offers and have her make a decision.

Temp rise is slowly rising. Have some decent freezing rain going on here. Have not been out but can see it on the trees in front of the house. They came through and plowed and actually the street looks like an ice rink. Currently 27.3.

Sleet just started in Frederick
Where are you in Frederick. Sleet has been going down here for at least the last 30 min. Just curious on the line.

I have sleet up here now.

Who here is near Dulles?
My husband and daughters flight from Seattle is scheduled to take off on time at 4 PST with a wheels down time of Midnight here. How confident is the temperature rise and change to rain? They will be driving back up to Frederick and I am really thinking they just need to get a reservation and head home tomorrow.

81 south of Roanoke is a disaster. Jack knifed tractor trailers cars in ditches. A complete mess. Going to end up looking like 95 last week.
81 is crazy on a good day in the snow everyone should be made to just pull off and shut it down.

meanwhile at the extreme southern edge of this system it’s 75 and the wind is steady at 25 and gusting to 38. there is a squall line that has already spawned 3 tornadoes in Tampa headed this way.
Confirmed tornado in Ft Meyers. Went through an RV park. Also one crossed 75 around mm 96 and flipped a semi.

Ji prob remembers Kerr Lake and Gaston talk from a year or 2 ago. That has evolved and we're focus exclusively on the entire general area around Smith Mountain Lake. Leesville Lake too. Possibly the other side of the blue ridge near 81 but that's prob going to be it. Looking at 30 acres or so with a semi-self sufficient "compound". So not leaving the area entirely, probably.
Quite a mental journey figuring out this move. Far far far more options than when we bought our Rockville house. And I'm very very thankful for Rockville real estate. Allows us to "downsize" considerably and still get everything reasonable we want. Just need to live long enough now...

We're closing on a place in West Ocean City on Friday (hoping to see some snow there next weekend), with the plans of splitting time between the mountains and beach after we become empty nesters in just over four years.
With the older Miss J off to college next year, and the second one only 2 years behind we are seriously thinking of downsizing. Will have to stay close enough to Mr J’s work for the time being. Unless they let people stay remote. Have even toyed with the idea of a condo in DC to get some city life.
Here is some early storm baking to enjoy though. Apple banana GF muffins.
