  1. Northeast Drought Summary Generally 1 to 2 inches fell on much of northern West Virginia and parts of western Pennsylvania as well as southern Maryland. Amounts were closer to 0.5 inch in most areas outside New England, with little or no precipitation reported there outside northernmost Maine. As a result, moisture deficits continued to increase in most of the Northeast Region, resulting in the expansion of extreme drought (D3) into southern New Jersey while severe drought (D2) enveloped northern New Jersey, part of eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York State including most of the New York City area, and western Massachusetts. Several locations across Maryland, eastern Pennsylvania, and New Jersey had recorded a record number of consecutive days without precipitation (including Newark NJ, Trenton NJ, Philadelphia PA, Baltimore MD, and Washington DC) before light rains on November 10 ended the streaks of consecutive days without measurable precipitation at 5 to 6 weeks, but these amounts were light and had little impact on the dryness and drought found across most of the Region. Unusually high fire danger and numerous brush fires have been observed recently.
  2. Low of 34 here but up to 37 now. HGR never got below 36/37
  3. @Itstrainingtime it is already mostly cloudy here. May clear out for a time later but clouds are bulldogging ahead.
  4. MDT trying to stay in the 40's or lower for the first day since April 5th. 49 right now. Also, 2024 at MDT currently stands solidly in second worst all time for numbers of days 39 and below for a high when looked at over a Calendar year. Still 1.5 months to go before that stat is finalized. Only one of the top 10 occurred prior to 1990. These are TCC like stats but they are real nonetheless. (Edit, MDT did not make it as they climbed into the 50's after this post. They need to record one prior to 11/19 to avoid the record. May get it tomorrow)
  5. 12Z GFS dispensed of the long running Hurricane threat and is decidedly colder after the 20th as a trough sets in. it mostly has GEFS support as well. This does come at the expense of beneficial rains with the former offering.
  6. 47 early nooners. Today would have been a terrific day for Turkey bowl whether middle aged people reliving their past football glory or people "rolling" frozen turkeys. Sunny, little wind and upper 40's to low 50's.
  7. Our plants made it fine last night so it looks like we/Rou are going to be watering into Dec. LOL.
  8. Only the Rgem has a widespread freeze south of Harrisburg tonight and that is concentrated East. I never bet against the rgem with lows though.
  9. As Blizz mentioned, MDT appears to have broken their no freeze streak. We did with 29 for the low so far here in Rou. 31 down the hill in Waynesboro. "Technically" growing season lives on here. Will have to see how the stuff did when I uncover it in an hour.
  10. Families and group of friends do. Most fields around have some football action Thursday am.
  11. I am planning on covering the plants tomorrow as well. No reason to risk.
  12. I certainly would not bet even $1 on them breaking the barrier. They have burnt me too often. Dews drop into the teens on the rgem. A big part of the difference as you suggested.
  13. The 3K goes out of its way to show Harrisburg not going below 32/33. LOL. Rgem is much colder than anything else. Mid 20's for many. HRRR is low 30's. Fv3 upper 20's except Harrisburg. Do not recall so many models showing the HIA.
  14. Yea, the system winds up and drags down coldish air but that is in the 12-15 day time frame. Lows in the upper 20's Turkey AM (on a 384 hour map :-))
  15. The GFS has persistently being running a major hurricane up the southern peninsula of Florida...which would eventually have soaking rains implications for us as a system in the Midwest is blocked by the ridge between the hurricane and itself and spreads several soaking rain (some snow far north) sessions over us. Still 9-10 days out but a fairly enthusiastic chance of drought denting as to consistency in runs. CMC has a more convoluted, less strong cane scenario which is as likely as anything but moisture coming north from the SE is the key for us whether a major cane or not.
  16. Up to 57 here now tying the midnight high. MDT not getting there yet though.
  17. Nooners. 55 and sunny...quite breezy at 15-20 gusting to near 30. Chillier north of Harrisburg
  18. We are planning on covering our marigolds tonight in hopes of getting them to Thanksgiving, they look so good right now. With no freezing here yet we are still harvesting peppers, raspberry's and strawberries. Bonus veggies and fruits. LOL.
  19. I think he is arranging to throw petunias down for you to drive on.
  20. Midnight high today! Surprised you are not on that! Have to wait and make sure MDT does sneak to 57 this afternoon. Mesos's say no.
  21. MDT was 48 around sunrise and is back up to 52 now. I have risen from a low of 42 up to 50 at this point.
  22. Low 60's possible this weekend...guess that is not summer but it is damn nice. Tomorrow still looks like MDT's only chance for a 32 looking LR.
