Glenn just gave out his winter forecast:

    December -2 temps  4"

    January normal temps 14"

    February +2 8"

    March -2 4"

    Total: 28-36"

    -2 temps

Damn, I missed it! He usually does it at 11pm. Maybe he wanted to beat ch 6 outlook at 11pm tonight?

Overall, I'll take it. Glad his snowiest month is Jan. The +2 Feb temps is a little surprising.

I imagine Glenn's winter forecast (and others) should be coming out this week or so. Looking at the past 2 winter forecast they were released on Nov 12 and 13th. Hard to believe this will be his 20th year making predictions.

And it is...it's severe winter weather week on NBC10 and he said his 20th outlook will be coming out this week. He didn't say when but probably Thurs/Fri...11pm. Just a guess...

Granted, reading comprehension isn't my strong suite, but did DT skip #2? lolz! Anyway ...

Last night's 0z Euro doesn't look as extreme, but still way to early to settle on any one outcome. Should be an interesting couple of days model watching!

This is a massive 4th July fireworks display considering how down-right boring the weather has been for many of us. (not all)

Overall, I think we hit near/slight above 90 later next week then Summer is dead...low-mid 80's then 70's for highs from mid Sept on for the most with a few exceptions. Things are calming down as far as temps....

  4. It is a joke somewhat but since it favors my area I'll take it as exact science...

** Highest for me is 86 on 4/7 with the forecast ending 4/11.

Extended outlook takes me through 7/16 without a 90 degree day. Although several days in the upper 80's (end of June)....probably one/few of them hit 90 if this is taken seriously.

  5. Wow, I just watched their new 10 day/scrolling/forecast again and tried to concentrate. Way too many numbers flying around and useless stats for the normal public. Man o man, It's really bad...trying to jam too much info for the entire tri-state area in a 2(?) minute segment.

  6. Following the averages to the letter it appears without considering that averages happen as the result of extremes that are

pretty tough to hit 90 days out.

  7. At least three others,

Michelle Grossman, Karen Thomas and someone from Telemundo...

    Slim pickings for sure!

How 'bout Herb Clarke, Gene Crane or Wally Kennan?

Growing up Herb Clark was the man. Jim O'Brian and him had such different personalities but got their point across regarding weather.

*Looking at the NBC10 weather bios I was a tad shocked seeing Bill Henley has been there a year longer than Glenn. Bill (94') Glenn (95'). I would have thought Bill started around early 2000s. Time flies...

  8. That's probably it then. I read somewhere Doug was there because of a pre-planned vacation. I assumed Sheena.

Again though, why not get the weekend weather people to fill in and not a lead Met from another market?

Do they even have weekend weather people/Mets any longer? (cut cost?) Under "meet the team" in NBC10's weather section all they have listed are Glenn, Bill and Sheena. I never watch the local news on weekends so I wouldn't know...

  9. Sheena is not on vacation, as she is on the early morning newscast for two weeks. I do not work there so not sure what is up, but with Glenn out due to an illness then why don't they just have Sheena cover his slot? Unless Bill Henley who does the early morning newscast is on vacation. Not sure.

  10. Well, I know that's the reason they gave but it seems to me that there is more behind it than bringing a chief meteorologist up from DC just to "fill in" for Glen (who rarely is on at 11pm anyway)...

Glen was on the night before at 11 pm and seemed just fine...although he was sick a couple weeks ago...

    We'll see.

Sheena is on vacation(Glenn ill) but couldn't they get one of the weekend people to fill in rather than ripping off Doug from DC?

Besides Glenn and a select few (non weather) NBC10 sucks. Once Glenn retires I'm out for weather and news. The station in general is a mess. The only good thing they've done recently is finally shiet-can Renee Chanault after 6+ months "leave" because of her corrupt husband and possibly herself as well. She was horrible...

  11. JB touting the MJO as causing the warmth to be delayed but not denied (cannot fight the tropics). Now days 5 to 15 will be cold but centered in the Midwest for cold and snow - including the next big storm after this week which he says will likely go up west of the apps. Basically his thinking is while February will be cold relative to averages it will NOT be as cold as he originally thought. Also thinking we will likely NOT see any big snow storms in the east.

Sounds like we blew our nut on one storm (although good)....Spring pending.

  12. We are not the most active region at times, not do to forum members, but do to the WEATHER.  40's and clear for the next couple weeks.

What exactly do people think we should be posting about that is weather related?  We can have a bunch of dream threads like NY that never pan out, or we can do what we do...when there is an active threat, the forum comes alive.  How is that a bad thing?

For banter, there are other parts of this site.  For Philly area specific WEATHER, this forum has been a godsend to many people (snow plowing and general work related...and school related if you count that one kid).  Many of us browse this forum, and if there is an NYC merger, I guarantee those frequent members that browse are leaving the site for good.  There is absolutely ZERO advantage to a merger, but the advantages of a Philly specific forum are countless.  We don't have to sort through ridiculous threads, we don't have a million trolls, and we have our own weather.  If the Philly specific forum gets boring, you can look at the weather in the NY forum, or any other forum.

    ^You nailed it and I didn't have to type...seriously.

  13. Again, I don't understand why those who spend most of their time at Tom and Adam's site feel the need to come in here and tell those of us who remain that we need to merge with the NYC forum? Why do you care what goes on here if you've essentially left/choose not to participate here?

I wish more mets like Tony, Mike, Ray and Mitch posted here. But they choose not to. I don't know why? This forum has never had a reputation of attacking red taggers the way other others do.

And I'm not trying to turn this into an "our forum vs Tom and Adam's" thing. I lurk there. I just choose to spend more time here and post here instead. So again, what's the issue?

Can I please have the link....just want to check it out.
