I imagine if it's windy as hell while snowing would create quite a challenge measuring totals among other obstacles. And I understand you probably take one of the more accurate totals out there...
If you're 18yrs of age, have average intelligence, understand and follow the rules you're basically a trained spotter.

Not saying it isn't but it's not enjoyable. I rather have freezing rain which coates the trees and roads. Snow that doesn't stick to pavements/roads is unproductive snow...

Still some leaves on the tree and I'll probably rake/mow for the last time this weekend.I remember not that long ago I would have the lawnmower packed away by early/mid Nov. And Sept is still summer and probably the best time to visit the shore.....less people and cheaper rental rates.
