You know you have me there. It’s insanely hot in in the city right now. Definitly the worst “feeling” day of the summer. I actually went into work an hour later then normal to avoid the peak of the heat.

I don’t blame you, it’s too hot for anything remotely strenuous. Today truly is the hottest feeling day this summer. My dog kept dragging me into the shade during our walk, he didn’t even attempt to run and he’s normally a ball of energy.

Damn. 85/72 here. With the lower sun angle my station is almost completely in the shade, so its running a bit low. I also cleared a ton of brush away from it this weekend, was like a rain forest.

It’s close to impossible to get a perfect siting (no excuse for KNYC though), my station’s biggest issue is wind direction/speed, it’s rarely ever accurate due to obstructions.

Down to 88 here from a high of 91. 2nd heat wave of the summer looking likely.

Yeah I vaguely remember it too

I wish I had the slightest memory of it, my earliest wx memory came a few months later in the Jan 1999 ice storm in DC/MD.

Southwestern Nassau county hasn't seen a true severe thunderstorm since then (at least I don't recall seeing one and I've been tracking every thunderstorm since 2000 on.) There has been strong thunderstorms over the years with with tiny hail but not true severe.

I believe you, I grew up not too far away in Jamaica and I’ve never seen a thunderstorm produce any damage, aside from the September 2010 event which I didn’t actually experience as it occured miles to the north of me.

Only .15” at the wantagh meso in the last 24 hours. We find every possible way to miss any precip.

i have also noticed the last several weeks there is an area of convection non stop about 100 miles south of the island over the ocean. That area must have had 50” of rain or something ridiculous

I’m surprised, Nassau was doing so well with storms. I think even Long Beach got hit yesterday. Do you know the monthly total so far at the Wantagh station?
