Bottomed out at 20 here. Coldest it’s been since February 3rd.
-
Nothing reached the surface here.

Arrived at home just after 2PM when the first flakes began falling.
After my 7+ hour drive (to and from CT, only 50 miles away as the crow flies) in the rain last week I refused to partake in yet another commuting hell, I knew this was gonna happen.

4.3” final total, spot on with ISP.
33° with sleet now.
-
4 inches on the nose here. 32.2 degrees.
My yard stick had spiders crawling all over it, reminded me that it’s November and not February.

I know snow is interesting, but this cold is remarkable. My high for the day is only 34°, it hasn’t been this cold since February 3rd.
Temp now below freezing, courtesy of the snow. Coming down quite heavy now.

In our part of Long Island, if you see snow/sleet for long enough to accumulate anywhere, call that a win. And a very nice event for Nov 15th. This will be a much better event a little distance into N NJ and S NY.
Hopefully where I’ll be moving soon (Huntington Station) will do well this winter.
Moved here from Far Rockaway last December, night and day difference. Used to take Ocean Parkway to work, some mornings it’d be in the low 40’s from the Rockaways through Jones Beach and drop into the 20’s once I crossed over the GSB bridge, I’ve seen rain change to snow plenty of times. Also, the warmer summer temps are a plus imo, the sea breeze isn't a daily occurrence this far north.
I’m far from a snow weenie, but it certainly *feels* like it wants to snow today. Just a hunch, I’ve no meteorological explanation to provide, but I think the fact that it’s snowing in DC right now is telling.

Bottomed out at 29° here, very heavy frost this morning.
-
31.8° here, first freeze.

This strange spike in snowfall amounts has been insane. As much as I loathe winter, it’s been interesting to observe such an abrupt climate shift.
And I guess it’s only a matter of time before more 2011-12 style winters begin to occur with greater frequency, I wonder if it’ll be as abrupt as this uptick in snowfall has been.

...i'm @ 31.9*..KFOK @ 34*..gabreski got down to 26* @ 5am..less wind today will make it
easier to bag some leaves..but will hold off another week..still not 100% down.
My low was 32.5° at around 2:30 AM, temp started slowly rising afterwards. And KFOK never ceases to amaze me.

I’m surprised they didn’t issue at least a freeze watch.

About 10 years ago driving through NW Jersey I hit a 50°(car thermo) snow squall. Temp dropped like 10° instantly. Pretty cool stuff.
That sounds cool. I’m not big on snow but random squalls such as those are always fun.
-
Snow showers? Keep em. It’s 50 degrees here.
*Although, I have seen flurries with temps this warm, twice. I recall reading somewhere (years ago) that NYC actually holds the record for the warmest temp (49/50 degrees) where snowfall was officially observed, idk how true that is, but it’s plausible as I’ve seen it.

heavy traffic with the holiday weekend (for some). Rumor was that Rte 25 from Bridgeport was proposed to cross the sound and go in somewhere around Port Jeff....never got constructed but wow-that would have made the trip alot easier...
I like the idea of an I-91 extension to the LIE via William Floyd Parkway, the two are almost perfectly aligned, it makes the most sense. The only issue would be that the bridge/tunnel would be crossing the widest part of the Sound.

Horrible driving conditions for the entire duration of my 7 hour drive to and from Connecticut today, it’s absolutely disgusting that there isn’t some sort of crossing between LI and CT, the trip would’ve taken 1/3rd of that time, but that’s another topic.
-
Watched the temp plummet this morning from 41 on the LIE with no frost to 31 on NY25 with heavy frost, they’re only 3 miles apart, 10 degree temp drop in 3 minutes.
I bottomed out at 34, forecast said 40 lol.

1.13” and counting.

Low of 33 here, no freeze yet. Early Nov doesn’t look very cold either, so the “growing season” continues here.
No frost this morning, oddly enough, we had a ton yesterday and the low was 38.

15°F this morning, which is colder than my lowest recorded temperature for Winter 2017 on the south shore, which was 16°F.
I sure hope this is the strongest cold snap of the cool season.
