....and just like that the opposite starts happening.... the 18z gfs looks flatter and more progressive. Euro probably gonna win this.
Little less phased and HP is a little stronger and south.

I have zero faith in the gfs. If the 12z euro continues to show a non-event on a system only 4-6 days out.... it's probably over. Euro only caves to the gfs beyond day 5, any caving that happens under that is always from the gfs.
The 0z Euro run looked like it was starting to cave to GFS/FV3. We'll find out soon if the 12z continues that or reverts.

You forgot your calling card;"The pacific jet will shred everthing to tatters"
Funny thing is both 12z GGEM and Ukie are just jumping on board with the storm idea.

I maybe wrong but it looked like we had a triple phaser on the 0z GFS for the storm next weekend. It was east of the sub though.

Looked to me like about 9 members out of 50 show a light to moderate hit, only 1 or 2 show something more significant. Vast majority ,show nothing.
Who knows though, maybe the gfs is going to be the first to trend better. But it's hard to get enthused when the euro is not seeing it 6 days out.
12z Euro did have it but it was weak and precip was along/south of the OH River.

Meh, I'd be surprised it trended stronger or more phased. The 18z gefs is much less impressed then the op. I think this is the gfs doing its usual appear...dissappear...re-appear games before it finally deep sixes it.
12z Euro members have some decents hitters so there is some support.

I still think next weekend has some potential to drop at least a few inches somewhere. At least, I don't want to rule it out entirely yet.
Seems there might be something next Wednesday. Both 12z Euro and 12z FV3 both showed a system across the south bring snow as far north as the OH River some sig accumulations in AR/MO. 18z GFS showing a more phased solution getting sig accumulations into southern OH.

Well this is just horrible. You know winter is bad when you can't even get a fantasy storm. GEM had one at 12z yesterday, but it was gone by 0z. It's actually becoming quite incredible. Almost as if there has been an atmospheric shift over Ohio. Relatively no winter for 4 years outside of a couple 4-5" storms. Can't ever remember a drought like this..
Not having a winter storm warning in almost 4 years really sums it up. I don't think I've seen anything more than 6" since the March 2008 blizzard. Somethings got to give and hopefully that can happen here in the next couple of months.

I'd mourn for Indy if that happened.... I've always felt CMH and Indy have a special bond of brotherhood, forged in futility.
12z GGEM sticking to its guns.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Euro is farther north with the energy that ejects late week.
The plot thickens. 0z GFS is much better at 500mb but phases a little too late for any precip in the south sub. 0z GGEM however has an earlier phase and a nice snowstorm of 4-8" especially NW of I-71 in Ohio.

The Christmas miracle on the Euro has a surface low north of Paducah KY on Christmas morning and this weather-type map at 18z. If this were to happen, I would be playing in the snow in Ohio. There is little agreement between this and the GFS and the Canadian. The GFS has a small ridge at 500mb in Ohio/Indiana at this time frame.
0z GGEM had something like this but lost it at 12z and now Euro has it. Will be interesting to see if they all can pick up on it or lose it.

0z NAM a little west with the secondary low and showing more snow over much of Ohio although the accumulation map shows any accumulation north of I-70.
