  1. We arrived in Gatlinburg yesterday. Staying for 3 nights. Woke up a few hours ago to a light snow shower on top of the mountain (Westgate Resort). Nothing heavy but a little car topper, light dusting on the ground that's still exposed from the big fire. Wasn't expecting anything so a very light dusting is a bonus to me. When I say a light dusting, I mean a VERY light dusting. b6e4a9c654c3dc8bc4c3bb7c17b3ea3c.jpga84cbbe0fae52d5ece2731d10f0e9b6c.jpg

  2. Flakes getting much smaller. Looks to be winding down. Hard to measure accurately in the yard because of the length of the grass. I keep the grass at 3 1/2" so I can't get an accurate measurement. I just cleaned off the windows on the vehicle and it was a super saturated wet snow. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was right at 4" on the vehicle. 4706f5612f267c97f78042e24134c377.jpgc2c4dc930306a4131bc953adb20e278f.jpg

How far N and NW will it get? Looks like Chatt is about to get a good burst

I just stepped outside and currently nothing reaching the ground. At first it looked like the grill cover had snow on it but it was frost. I didn't expect to see frost this morning with the cloud cover. It's currently 29* at our house. TWC app is showing 30* and a snow shower at my location but I can confirm nothing reaching the ground yet.

  4. Reading the discussions from Peachtree City they seem to be holding firm on their belief of 2" snow accumulation in N. Georgia, including areas at or near the border around Chattanooga. I would really love a surprise around here, even it it does melt

off by the afternoon. We'll know something in about 9 hours or so. We can always hope and just see what happens. We moved into our new house in Ooltewah in June 2016. In that time we have had a combined total of just under 1/2" of snow. Yes, less than 1/2" of snow in 3 1/2 years. . I just want to see some white ground cover at our house. We managed a slight dusting twice on the cold hood of our vehicle.

  5. So far today in Ooltewah it's been breezy and warm. Current temp at our house is showing 74*. Clouds are getting a little darker. We had maybe a 5 minute light rain shower early this morning. I took the opportunity to wash my wife's car and organize the garage. All outdoor cushions and umbrella have been put away so now we just sit back and wait. Having a cold Modelo and waiting for football and the storms. Good luck to everyone if it does get severe in your area. Be safe.

Edit to add: Temp has now dropped to 71* at our house. Not that it means anything but it was 3* drop in 30 minutes

We don't need more rain down here in Chattanooga. If we continue in this pattern it will be bad for farmers especially. By the way, where is your location JanetJanet?

  7. Oh what could have been. We have been sitting between 35.4*-36.9* with a steady rain for the last few hours at our house. I haven't looked at any observations but I'm curious if the mountains have an inversion and are warmer with rain or if there is any frozen slop falling anywhere?

Has anyone heard of any actual frozen precip falling in Tennessee today?

  8. It some how manages to snow fairly heavily all around the South except for the Southern Eastern Valley/NE Georgia area. At the 240 mark another southern system is effecting the whole forum with snow and it's pointed at those areas.

It seems like here in Chattanooga we miss out on snow a lot when the board gets snow. I realize this is just a model but it seems pretty accurate for past storms. On a side note, when the forecast busts in our favor we end up overproducing by a big amount. Hopefully if this storm develops we can all get a nice dumping.
