1. Hate to sound like a broken record but still moderate snow here. 5 miles away nothing.

I came up with a new quote for winter in the south. The beer made me think about it.

"Winter weather in the south is like a blind date. Never know what you're going to get".

  2. I guess patience pays off. Moderate snow now, no rain. What a crazy storm. Our mountain roads are getting bad on Signal and Mowbray.
This is a system for the record books. Not because of the small amounts but for the simple fact that everything is haywire within a 15 mile radius of us. It was literally a rain or snow event for our area after 10:30 a.m. My son-in-law on Signal.sent me this picture a few minutes ago. They have just a little bit more than us. 4 miles up the road there are several inches. Crazy They live near Pruett's in Brow Estates. Much higher elevation than we are and not that much more. Cross over into Sequatchie county and several inches.f794d68ccdb05620e7c7dbd98e0adc2b.jpg

  3. Even East Brainerd is all rain still… crazy

    .
My brother in East Ridge had a few flakes but mainly rain. It's amazing we never switched back to rain. My neighbor was showing at Target, which is E. Brainerd where dwagner88 lives. He said it was all rain and when they passed the Volkswagen exit and topped the hill to the Ooltewah exit the snow started. It crazy weather today.

  4. Snow stopped at 3:15 in Ooltewah. Started back at 4:00 and coming down at a nice clip. Hoping for 3 or 4 more hours of snow. Radar looks decent. I'm still amazed that Hixson, which is 15 miles as the crow flies, is still rain and hasn't seen a flake.

  5. It must be snowing everywhere in chatt and surrounding areas. Cant seem to get it to switch over in Red Bank.

    .
A co-worker that lives in Hixson is all rain as well. You should switch over any minute. When you do you'll have some cotton balls during the changeover.

  6. If we can luck out and somehow get 5 hours if this it will be a nice little snow. Like Dwagner said, sticking here too. Cars are white, ground has a thin layer of white and grills and roofs are white. The Weather Channel even mentioned Chattanooga about 20 minutes ago. They said we could get under a heavy band and have some good accumulations very quick.

  7. The video doesn't do it justice. These are monster flakes coming down. Temp is 35° which sucks, but let's see if we can get it to stick. The snow is trying its best to stick.

Couldn't add video on the free site. The file is too large.

  8. Mix of R/S in Ooltewah. It keeps going from a 50/50 mix and then will switch to huge flakes at roughly 80% snow. Currently looking at mainly snow but flakes aren't as big and not as heavy as when we were mixed. And as I am typing this the snow rates picked up again. We could easily get 3 hours of this and have zero accumulation unless it relentlessly dumps on us.

  9. Temperature is finally starting to drop here. Down to 37.
You're in E. Brainerd, correct? Walk outside and check the sky. I'm in Ooltewah not too far from you and we have light rain but an occasional snowflake will mix in. If we do change over to snow, it would really help us to get a quicker changeover, similar to what Huntsville is seeing. My fear is changing over to get a good snow going only to swap back and forth from rain/snow. The temps are killing us with this system. Odds are very slim to get under a heavy band but I guess it could happen for us. That's our only hope with the temps being so warm.

  10. MRX is officially on crack or second shift has taken over. They raised my totals up to 2” an hour ago and put me under a WWA. Now they have lowered my totals to 1/2” to 1”.

    .
Might be the wrong graph they showed. Just guessing.

  11. There is a room available there, going to try and convince the wife to do a little getaway
Take a spray bottle and fill it with alcohol to put a mist in the sheets and bed. Can't be too careful with bed bugs, especially on the "less roads traveled" hotels/motels.

    Kidding but not really.

  12. Sort of surprised in my current location. Just on the state line into Georgia just leaving from visiting my mom to head back to Ooltewah. It's 39° and a very light rain with some sleet pellets mixed in bouncing off the car. Originally our rain wasn't scheduled until very late afternoon.

  13. Just finished my weekly Costco run an hour ago. Our Costco is over the state line into Georgia. All the main roads in N. Georgia have a heavy layer of brine. I know they are thinking ahead but it will all be washed away by the rain, even if we get any frozen precip later. Probably between 1/2"-1" of rain. I don't see how the brine will have any impacts on the roads in the event of frozen slop.

  14. Slept in today and waking up to a mix of maps in the Chatty area. 1/2 are showing decent snow in our area and 1/2 are showing the infamous no snow for us. Just watched WRCB and the weekend met is calling for a dusting, if anything at all, similar to the last system. I think when these maps spit out 2-4" in our area they would have to be taking the local ridges and mountains into consideration because
it appears we are simply too warm for an earlier changeover to get any accumulations. Maybe John1122 can chime in on my sentence regarding the maps and local mountains.

  15. It's interesting how different offices have different views of the Low track. This is from Peachtree City, Ga. It also shows their thoughts on Georgia and surrounding states. I'm not sure if the Tennessee graphics with % of potential snowfall totals are from their office or from Norman.532a1cf08c50ba59e725acf0f6447ec3.jpg97e4972101e95113a5b0e90cbf88d38c.jpg766ac9bff4703a43136e209ae2fa7dd5.jpg
