  1. Is it me or am I looking at the radar wrong? The precip shield rolling through from SW to NE looks like a typical frontal passage. Put in motion I don't see any pivot at all, it just slides west to east. Maybe my thinking was off when I thought the snow would be wrapping around more instead of sliding west to east, if that makes sense.

  2. The sleet is stubborn. Still hanging on to 80% sleet. CC drop is very close on radar though.
We are just about 100% snow in Ooltewah. It literally took 5 minutes for the flower bed to turn white. I know it's just a flower bed but it's sticking faster than I expected. Typical things like grills, etc. are white. Surprisingly our sidewalk and driveway kept a little of the sleet. Hopefully that will allow for quicker accumulations.

  3. 1 a.m. temp check was 37.7° in Ooltewah. 15 minutes it dropped to 35.9. Rain with a few random flakes mixing in. Son in law on Signal Mtn reported 32° with moderate sleet with a few flakes mixed in for 20 minutes before going to a more snow less sleet mix.

Let the good times roll. I took a 4 hour nap and I'm ready. Please no more disappointment for our area. .

Local met saying 3-4" with embedded area of 6"+.

  4. Out of curiosity does anyone remember the last decent snow in March for East TN? I’m having trouble remembering one in recent years.
This is going purely off memory but I "think" on March 25th, 2009 or 2010 we received some heavy, wet snow in Chattanooga. Temps were upper 30's and it would dump heavy snow for 30 minutes, temps would crash to 33° and we would pick up a quick 1/2"-1" of heavy, wet snow. It would stop for awhile and temp would climb back to the upper 30's. Snow again and temps drop to 33. I think we ended up with 2" of sloppy wetness that didn't stick around for more than 4 or 5 hours.

  5. The maps look good. I just hope we can can something down here. Local Mets in Chattanooga this morning saying there will be a brief changeover with maybe a 3 hour window for snow showers. They were showing a map with less than 1" "possible"
but if that happens it would only be in some grassy areas. I would love to see a completely white ground. I'm really hoping for the models to just be even 50% accurate. That would be a huge win for our area.

  6. Found a few videos from another forum. One is a tree falling recorded by a Ring doorbell. The 2nd one is a reporter from Fox 13 in Memphis. He apologized for letting out $&@t when he was running out of his house. It's better with volume up to hear the tree crash and transformer blow.

  7. It looks like the Memphis area will take it hard on the chin. With that said, I'm not sure Memphis downtown area will keep temps low enough to have any issues. It seems like their UHI keeps temps just warm enough whenever temps are borderline freezing. I'm guessing people in Memphis hope this as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, that just seems to be the trend most of the time in that area.

Edit to add: Dyersburg looks to get hammered. I'm not sure how accurate the report is from TWC app but it's currently showing a pocket of snow over Dyersburg at 5:42 a.m. local.

  8. I’m seeing plenty of areas with white grass on the TDOT cameras around town. Unfortunately I don’t live in one of those areas. Bone dry here.
Our yard is white in Ooltewah. Obviously not deep, 1/2" on ground and an inch on car tops and grills. 100% more than I expected from this.

Edit to add: I had to use night vision in my phone because it was blurry otherwise.

  9. Just returned home in Ooltewah. Stopped.snowing here as soon as I pulled into the driveway. Go figure. Light dusting here. I was on Hwy 58 about 10 minutes away and it went from nothing to 20 seconds of flurries to a heavy snow. It started sticking in a matter of a few minutes. By the time I got home it was coming to a stop. It was just like a pop up summer thunderstorm while you were under it, only white.

Also, car temp.showed 39° and within 10 minutes had dropped to 33°.

  10. The real question of the day.. Tennessee will almost certainly beat Florida tonight. Will the Vols cover the spread?
UPDATE: The question of Feb. GFS gets Chattanooga good snow almost on the exact two year anniversary.
I would like it to stick a round for a few days if we get anything. February 2020 laid down a nice, heavy, wet 3-4" in Ooltewah. 4 hours later it had melted away.

  11. Has anyone found a fix for Android users?
The location shows if I'm on the website but it doesn't show when using Tapatalk. I'll take a screenshot to show you the limited info that shows in Tapatalk. Forums other than Americanwx shows location on Tapatalk so I'm thinking it must be a settings issue. I just can't seem to find the setting.
Edit to add: location used to show using Tapatalk on Americamwx. This started recently.

The screenshot provided shows the limited data I see.d42d40863529dc12738d4c4e16f52812.jpg

  12. I figured this post belongs here so I don't clutter up the main threads. Question for any admins. If there is a pending storm I read some posts from different people on their current weather conditions, whether it's in this sub-forum or other ones on this board. For some reason locations are no longer showing. I like to see where people are located to compare to the Chattanooga area to get an idea if we "might" get some of the same weather. I can't find anything in settings I might have accidentally clicked.

If it matters I read this on my phone using Tapatalk. Its always showed location on this sub-forum but not so much in the southern states sub-forum. Now all locations are missing. Thanks for answering if you have an answer.

Screenshot is used for an example.

Let's hope the Euro is correct. I'd like to see a ground sticking snow here. I guess I shouldn't complain about Sunday getting close to an inch on the ground. At least it was something to see for change. Reel this one in John so we can see a completely white ground down here!

  14. Down to 33 here… and still no snow

    .
That sucks man. What part of town are you in? Ooltewah has been snow since 10:30 other than a 45 minute lull at 3:15. Slacked off a lot 20 minutes ago and haven't been back outside to check current conditions.
