  1. New areas in the Warning/ Advisory for TN/ SW VA? Gtyf8cH.png&key=ec44a8a3d9592ffb88d21e2f39f5ffa297a77bb52d760e8fcd44d6bc28931605

MRX mentioned Claiborne/ Campbell/ Scott in the PM AFD and Wise, but wasn't sure if they were under any product this AM

What is the tan colored graphic? I ask because Dalton, GA is in the tan area and they are just 30 miles to our south.

Edit to add: the tan reaches the Tennessee border just 4 miles to my south as a bird travels.

  2. All we managed in Ooltewah was a dusting. The ground was white but not completely covered. These pics are from Signal Mtn, not Ooltewah.

The only snow now is spotty in yards and a few rooftops and cars.

Almost 1 year to the day of last years February 8th surprise 3-4" we managed to get. That was a heavy, wet snow and by 1pm it was completely gone.

Hopefully this little dusting is a precursor for bigger things down the road.

Congrats to everyone outside the Chattanooga area who got snow. My son-in-law sent me these pictures from his Signal Mtn home a few minutes ago. Looks like they managed a little over 1".

I edited to add the 2 pitiful pictures I just took at our house to show how snow starved we are. . This is all that remains here.

  3. John, if you can reel in 2-4 inches of snow for the Chatty area when you come bebopping into town that would be great.

You go to Hixson if I remember from posts from the previous years. We're on the other side of the lake in Ooltewah. Shoot us at least a good ground cover over this way.

Oh, and bring your own milk and bread. Channel 9 just showed high end snow amounts of 1.1" from Saturday night through Sunday night. Our stores will be empty.

Edit: Snow was on the NAM.

    All other maps show rain

  4. If the temps are going to be as cold as advertised late next week AND there is moisture my gut tells me Chattanooga will be looking south to see the white stuff. I've seen way too many good snows get suppressed just to our south when we finally get cold air in our area and moisture from the gulf.

Plenty of time to feel this one in. Let's hope for temps in the upper 20's to low 30's if we all get the moisture. After that bring in the motherload of cold so it can have staying power.

  5. Verizon service is bad inside VW so I can't share any pics. We have nothing here but to our south one co-worker from Dalton has a solid dusting and another in Lafayette, Ga looks to be between 1-2". They got a nice thumping around 7am.

All I had was a good snow shower at 5am leaving the house in Ooltewah. 5 miles up the road at VW it was nothing but a few flurries. Nothing stuck at my house.

Good luck to those outside of the Chattanooga area. I hope you all over perform. I think our quick snow shower at 5am will be considered an over- performer
    for us.

  6. Caught a lightning strike with the next wave moving into NE sections. Energy is currently over S. IL:

  7. Looks like the southern valley may be in transition if radar scope can be trusted.  Are there any posters that could confirm it?

Bearman, I am in Ooltewah. Temp is 36* and the rain has intensified and flakes mixing in as well. It's the heaviest rain we have had from this system. It would be cool to get a changeover to all snow for a little bit but I'm not holding out hope. If only we were 3 or 4 degrees colder.

Edit to add: 100% rain again. No more flakes at the moment.

  8. Nothing but a cold rain in Ooltewah. 37* on my thermometer and 37.4* on my neighbor's. Congrats to everyone getting the flakes!

My son-in-law lives on Walden (Signal Mtn)
and said rain had changed over to a mix with the majority of it snow. Said it looks to be all snow in the next few minutes. 33.6* at his house.

  9. Here in the Chattanooga area temps have been holding steady in the upper 30's. We're in Ooltewah and have been at 38* and holding steady for 3 hours. Forecast high today is 47*. I guess that can still happen if the warm nose comes in like it normally does in our area. Hopefully the temps can hold in the upper 30's and drop when the precip starts. I'm not expecting anything here but I've seen before in these setups with marginal temps if we can get just enough cold air and heavy precip it can pull a surprise and actually dump some nice heavy, wet snow. Something to keep our eye on around here. I'll be sick if we end up with rain and a little mix and 15 miles up I75 in Cleveland they pick up 3 or 4 inches. Either way, good luck to everyone that's wanting snow.

  10. Poor Chattanooga is right in the edge of the line. If precip could fill in to the southwest of them it would probably be close to turning to snow.
We had good rain and as soon the temp dropped to 37* it turned to snow. Currently down to 34* but our good snow shower is tapering off as I type this. I'm in Ooltewah, a suburb of Chattanooga about 15-20 minutes from Cleveland.

  11. I know my wife and I were VERY lucky. Our home is in Ooltewah and if the tornado had been 1 mile or so left we would have been hit hard. The circled path shown is from News Channel 9. I'm no editing specialist but our house is roughly where I put the white dot. We were on the fringe of getting it bad. Other people were not so lucky.271b392da50ad22badbc4238944c3303.jpg&key=6d931a1dbc05ae94d302bd880648d6aa310459e54785db240aa47542be3e7a65

  12. I was finally able to make it over to my rental property. Somehow it is the only house on the street without significant roof damage. Only an aluminum deck awning was torn off. In worse news, all of the fences collapsed and every single tree is knocked over. The main path of the tornado missed the house by about 100 yards. The entire landscape behind the house has been changed. It was jaw dropping.
Check what I posted on the other Forum regarding your food. We can make room in our garage freezer if you still have frozen food that can be salvaged. We live in Ooltewah a little over 1 mile from the exit.

  13. I get off at exit 4 or sometimes 5 (Shallowford/75) whenever I go to my brothers house.  Seems to be a lot of businesses in that area vs a lot of housing. But I'm sure there were lots of homes hit as well.
John, this neighborhood is roughly 1 or 2 miles from the exit. Probably 1 mile as the crow flies. It's pretty bad.

  14. We are in Ooltewah. Woke my wife up and we got in the closet under the stairs. No reports of damages yet in our area. Rumors there was a touchdown but I'll wait until I see ground reports. Our house is 4 years old and built solid. The wind was howling. Hopefully we have no loss if life in our area. I'm hoping no damage at our house. We have underground utilities and lost power for 20 minutes. Lost it a 2nd time for 10 minutes. Everyone stay safe.

I cracked the closet door 1 time and you could literally feel pressure. Im guessing that was just from the main winds from the storm being so strong. Just hope we have no damage

  15. Light rain has started here in Ooltewah. Temp dropped from 45* down to 40* in a matter of minutes. We still have a long way to go. I'm just not seeing us dropping too much more to get the conversion to all snow for any extended time. If it does snow I hope folks post pictures! I won't be able to see the light of day at work being at VW.
