  1. Haha. Got excited because I saw the "Hot Thread" tag and it's been a while since I've seen one of those around here. Unforutnately, looks like things aren't heading in the right direction. Still time but I'd just hate to punt the first half of January.
  2. You know things are looking bad when Met is also negative. He’s usually my positive force on this board haha
  3. Rainstorm after rainstorm. Precip doesn’t seem to be the issue but we can’t even get cold enough during January? Just disappointing
  4. Yep. We’re going back into that classic winter pattern of “cold rain” and then dry when the actual cold shows up. Just an annoying last few years. Not even a threat to track for more than a day.
  5. Really thought this first week of January would be a good opportunity for us. Alas, more of the same. At least it will be chilly
  6. Chilly 19 for me. I'm still very intrigued by the Dec 28-Jan 4 time period for us. A mix of some upslope events and potential for more of a board-wide event.
  7. I will say that time-period of Dec 28-Jan 3 holds some interesting potential for the WNC crew.
  8. I'm suprised at the lack of wind here. I'm usually very gusty but my Tempest has my highest gust of 15mph so far...
  9. Great to see some snow last night but that long-range pattern looks rough. Christmas temps been creeping up on the GFS higher and higher.
  10. Heavy graupel/snow mix right now! Already made the trip up here worth it.
  11. Still mostly rain here at 4600’. I’ve seen a flake or two mix in but the wind is ripping.
  12. I’m at 4600’ up in Banner Elk. 36 degrees and dropping quickly now. Steady drizzle
  13. Drove through Burnsville and Spruce Pine on my way to Banner Elk. Was in the 50s the whole drive but just hit 43 up here at Monteagle/Rocky Knob. Hope to see the flakes fly soon!
  14. Might not see much but I'm headin up to Banner Elk. Just don't think I'll have many (if any) other opportunities to see snow through the rest of the month/early Jan. Modeling is concering.
  15. Thinking of making the drive up to Beech/Banner Elk tomorrow afternoon. Haven't chased in a while and it would be fun to see some flakes fly before tholiday.
  16. Saw a flake or two mixed in here in Asheville. Actually a pretty nice soaking drizzle otherwise
  17. Nothing like a chilly/rainy fall day to really ramp up the excitment for winter
  18. When was the last year with a lot of NWFS events or the last "big" NWFS event? Might just be recency bias but curious to see if others feel like the number of northwest flow events have been lacking compared to the 2000s/early 2010s.
  19. Pea size hail earlier today in Eagles Nest. Already down into the 30s. .
  20. 34 and very foggy up here in Eagles Nest at 4300ft. About to head out and explore some of the spots around 5000’. .
  21. I'll be in Banner Elk next week. Look's a bit unsettled but boy those temperatures are a dream.
  22. This has been one of the more "fall-like" Septembers in a long time. Look forward to spending a few weeks in Banner Elk this October and hope we keep this pattern going.
  23. Side note: I'm looking to buy some high elevation property for my 2nd home. Been looking in the Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock areas. Any recommendations from you all? I've looked at Lodges at Eagles Nest. Curious to hear from those of you with property above 4000'.
  24. Yea, was in Asheville today. Had one solid wind gust and 10-15mins of rain. Otherwise, not what I would have expected.
