  1. The blower almost failed me this AM....but I did clean up the T of snow that fell last evening. We also recorded 0.49" of w.e. during the "storm"
  2. Mainly wet snow here at 685 ft while down at the Turnpike at 520 ft just a few flakes mixed in . Deck is a bit slick but no accumulation yet with temp just above 34 degrees. So far 0.32" of w.e. today
  3. mainly light snow with some drips mixed in here in NW Chester County temp down to 36.9
  4. Snow has begun to mix in the the rain here in NW Chesco with a temp of 37.7
  5. WXSIM with 6z NAM/GFS has rain arriving by noon with temps peaking at 42 before falling with the onset of the rain. Snow will begin to mix in by 4pm with mixed snow/rain with more snow than rain during heavier precip rates - temps will remain just above freezing for the duration.. Becoming all snow by 10pm and ending by 1am - total snow 0.3" to 1.0" - have to get my blower gassed up!!
  6. Could we have an elevation driven event with spots over 600 ft across Chester and Berks counties seeing their 1st accumulating snow since the 2" that fell way back on January 18th? It's been a while without a WXSIM snow forecast will it be just as "accurate" as it has all winter long? WXSIM has light rain (temp 40.7) arriving on Friday by 10am quickly mixing with snow and getting heavy by 1pm temp down to 36.4. Moderate snow by 7pm temp at 33.4 - moderate snow through 1am temp 32.3 - tapering to flurries by 2am. Total snow accumulation 1" to 3"
  7. Beautiful day even down the shore in Sea Isle City NJ same temp as here in Western Chester County PA - no sea breeze....yet!
  8. Here in Chester County PA this winter (DJF) ranks as the 7th warmest since record keeping began in 1894. However, this winter was actually the 3rd coldest winter in the last 5 seasons! LOL! While this season was warm at an average temperature of 37.1 with normal at 31.3 (+5.8) it was still well below the warmest winter experienced way back in 1931-32 with an average temp of 39.5. Below are the top 7 warmest winters. 1. 1931-32 (39.5) 2. 1997-98 (38.1) 3. 2015-16 (37.8) 4. 2001-02 (37.5) 5. 1982-83 (37.4) 6. 2016-17 (37.3) 7. 2019-20 (37.1)
  9. 0.23" of rain since yesterday with today being our 4th straight day with measurable rain total over those days is 1.10" month to date at 2.22" and YTD 6.13" vs normal through today of 5.17". Normal snow for the season to date through today is 24.0" - snow so far this season just 5.8" just 24% of normal. If we are finished with snow this season this will be the 3rd least snow ever recorded in Chester County since 1894. Behind only 1972-3 - with no snow and 1949-50 with just 2.4" for snow less bragging rights!
  10. Some wet snow and sleet mixed with rain here in East Nantmeal temp at 41.9 DP 28 - in this non-winter every flake is sacred! Before the heavy rain!
  11. Some snow mixing with rain here in NW Chester County PA temp down to 38.4
  12. Temp up 5 degrees over last hour now 54.6 - high gust so far 15mph - transition to snow line 100 miles NW of here
  13. I have gone to Spring Training for the last 13 years - my brother and brother in law rent a house = outstanding time!! just a sea of phillies red - feels like you are in philly!!
  14. Hi Steve very excited for Phigthins this year!! I do wish they signed another pitcher....but some strong adds in Wheeler and Gregorius at SS solid! Incredibly the Phillies are the #5 pick in vegas to win the World Series. Not quite sure I am there but I do think they have their 1st winning season since 2011....lineup is strong but of course it comes down to the pitching. Will they make one more deal before the season - will some of the young pitchers step up?? Either way it is always great to have our National Pastime coming back - for me it is the greatest sport!! Go Phillies!! Record 85-77
  15. WXSIM with 6z data for NW Chester County PA has rain tomorrow transitioning to ZR overnite into Thursday with some light icing - up to 3" of rain this week plus for now showing snow heavy at times overnight Saturday into Sunday late morning with 3" to 5" of snow....no fear it will be gone by 12z
  16. Here in Chester County PA we finished January as the 10th warmest 1st month of a year at 36.5 degrees the top 10 including this year are: 1932 - 42.4 / 1913 - 39.5 / 1950 - 39.5 / 1998 - 38.7 / 1933 - 38.5 / 2006 - 38.4 / 1937 - 38.2 / 1990 - 37.3 / 1906 - 37.1 We also finished with the 44th least January snow at just 3.8". Of note this is also the 29th least snowy season to date with only 5.8" of snow so far. The 28 previous times with this little snow to date - only 4x did we finish w/above normal snowfall (36") for the season. The average ending snow totals for those 28 seasons is only 19.9" of snow. The biggest turn around season was 1913-14 when we only had 3.3" of snow through January but ended up with 54.1" - the worst winter non-turnaround of course is the only season without any recorded snowfall the infamous winter of 1972-3 with no snow accumulation at all.
  17. 12z data - WXSIM for the weekend light snow and flurries around midnight on Saturday with a coating of snow.
  18. Thanks for all the messages and emails for a WXSIM forecast for next week! Here is the early view (take with the proverbial grain of salt this far out) WXSIM sees a 1" to 3" snow event next Saturday afternoon into the evening for NW Chester County PA
  19. In my opinion this is by far the best Snowstorm threat so far this season. Now whether it is more white than wet....who knows but a big storm signal is there - as is common with most of the major East Coast events....interesting week ahead!
  20. It's coming Mike....but remember it is just spitting out what the GFS and NAM are selling.....it is NOT a model.....just a tool. It will swing with every model change which we know this year is major from run to run
  21. 2.25" of rain so far here in East Nantmeal Township - this is the highest daily rainfall since way back on August 13, 2018 when 4.17" fell. It is also the 1st time with 2" or greater precipitation in a day since August 31, 2018. However, we did not set a daily precip record for the day that was set on the last day of the 1909 blizzard that left the county blanketed under 29.0" of snow with 2.54" of w.e. on this day the 25th in 1909.
  22. WXSIM with 6z data has up to 2" of rain maybe a couple ice pellets at the start at around 4am Saturday AM.....I do see a snow flurry on Tuesday around midnight....keep the faith!
  23. K If that model was to verify I would bet snow would fall 100 miles NW of that surface low - N and W of philly would snow....but that is in la la land time frame
