  1. Sky looking very angry to the west, south , and east. Rolling thunder. Nice little line popped over the flood area.
  2. Not sure about the numbers, but this area has been in the news quite a bit with weather events. July 5th this year, 3" in this area in 90 minutes. We had a few 4" events in summer of 2021. Later in September 2021 a State Trooper was killed as he and his cruiser were flushed down a flooded river in Woodbury after Ida dumped on us. And on May 15, 2018, three tornadoes ripped through and crippled the Southbury, Oxford, Bethany, Seymour, Hamden area.
  3. 6.23 total here. My highest rate was 2.91"/hr briefly around 2pm.
  4. 69 years ago this week. Combined, CT & MA got upwards of 24" from hurricanes Connie and Diane.
  5. Or forecast of 12" of snow and we end up with 768"
  6. 6.14" for the day. Amazing how pathetic that feels when you're up against 16" a few towns over. The same with snow in winter.
  7. They were all in love with dyin'They were drinking from a fountainThat was pouring like an avalancheComing down the mountain.
  8. That area on route 67 has a small brook, maybe about 15 feet wide. I believe that was mainly "just" runoff from the surrounding hills.
  9. These are all the same areas that got destroyed in 1955. Army Corp of Engineers then designed and built several dams around here to deal with something similar. But a lot of those feeder rivers today were just roaring like nothing seen before. I can't imagine how the Housatonic is handling this. The other thing to consider is all the sewage plants along the Naugatuck river that were flooded; the untreated effluent was just washed into the river.
  10. Another 2-3 inches right on the bullseye.
  11. Bunch of drunks in an Oxford bar flooded with water, filming houses and playgrounds floating by. Pretty funny.
  12. Good Lord, that is awful. The stories of destruction just keep on coming.
  13. Who the hell makes the decision to drive through that? It's not like it comes within 10 seconds.
  14. Sometimes you SHOULDN'T pay attention to those road signs.
  15. Helicopters to rescue dozens of people stuck on a shallow island in the Housatonic/Lake Zoar.
  16. Yup. Probably wouldn't get this much water with Ernie anyway. Our cars and chicken coops may have washed away, but we still have our homes.
  17. Yeah, and then that line of storms advancing from the west.
  18. Just dropped my mom off back home and I saw a chicken coop floating down the Nonnewaug.
  19. There should be a CNN crew or Cantore showing up...Round two backbuilding at this moment.
  20. That is unbelievable. Never saw anything like that there in 40 years. The Pomperaug river must have burst its banks.
  21. Yup. Only hope is the backbuilding down north of Greenwich. Trying to top 6 here. 5.19.
