  1. When I look at the wind field on Ventusky, the center of circulation appears to be about 50 miles off the SC coast, and it's been moving slowly parallel to the coast all evening. I hope that means the low will hug the coast more than the models have said as it deepens...
  2. I don't pretend to know what is going on, but if I remember correctly from a earlier post, the ULL is delayed. Since this map is valid for 05Z Sunday (Sat. midnight?), could it be that what we're seeing on this map is the ULL coming through western NC and the coastal low has not geared up yet (waiting for the transfer from the ULL)? Just a thought, I could be totally wrong...
  3. Someone had posted this wind field map showing circulations off the coast. I'll leave it to other to indicate if it's useful to see where development may be occurring. I suspect it a snapshot-in-time as opposed to a prediction of how it will move. Link: https://www.ventusky.com/wind-gusts-map/1-hour#p=32.26;-80.41;6&w=0xIAb9A9A
  4. When will the pbp for the short range models (or map postings) commence here?
  5. Looks like a big 'ole bowling ball sitting over NC... gotta love ULLs!
  6. Man, this brought back a lot of old memories of when I took statistics, It helps to makes sense of why models "lose" storms as we get closer. Thanks for the explanation!
  7. Can someone point me to a resource to help this amateur read a sounding profile? Thanks!
  8. Freezing rain here too, but very light, and the back end is here. I don't think it'll amount to anything.
  9. WU interactive radar indicates an area of snow from Mocksville, to Lexington to Salisbury in NC. Is anyone seeing snow in that area? (This is just south of the Triad, for those who do not recognize these cities).
  10. I missed this! I greatly enjoyed jburns posts. What happened to him and when?
  11. I looked up a pic of graupel. You're exactly right, that's what is falling here.
  12. I'm not sure if we're getting sleet or snow. It's not clear ice like sleet and isn't bouncing off the driveway like sleet. It looks more like tiny round white snowballs, not snowflakes. What is that? It's coming down pretty hard.
  13. We were told to expect a dusting to maybe 1/2" of snow from this morning's snow. It overperformed. We ended up with 2 inches! It ended with a lot of huge flakes, slowly falling like in a dream...
  14. Still getting flurries, even though the radar shows nothing here.
  15. Light snow falling here wtih that narrow band going by...
  16. The ground and roads are totally covered now here. Flakes were small, now that are setting larger!
  17. Thank you for taking the time to explain these concepts, Burgertime. It is very helpful in understanding what we are look at and for!
