  1. Here we go! Precip shield moving into area. Somehow the ground was saturated and everything wet even without any rain showers this morning so we know we're dealing with some juice. Wind gusting to 46 last hour at Hilton head. Harbinger of things to come. Let's see if anyone can get a gust over 60 later this evening. 55/55 light rain has begun.

  2. It's getting late in the game and there really still hasn't been a consensus established forecast track. On the coast. Off the coast or inland? I'll always hedge it will take the coastal route but stay pretty close to shore if not slightly inland crossing over or just west of VA beach.  Coastal areas can easily withstand 50 to 60 mph gusts. That's most likely so I don't anticipate any issues down this way unless there's some spin-ups. We'll see. At least there's something going on

  3. Low 37

    High 54

currently 46 on the Sound. Chilly. Another good weekend rain coming up and we should be in much better shape regarding the drought.

Weekend heat and humidity spiked the weed growth within the Bermuda that is already dormant. Going to have to cut one more time

  4. I got a trace, so far. Not enough to wet the road. Mine should come later but so far a big nothing. Pretty trifle actually. 63°. Relatively light wind. Some gusts but nothing much. Interested to see if we get some elevated storms after 2:00 or 3:00 a.m.

I agree there are certainly too many unreasonable people anywhere...but there does seem to be a higher concentration of them in our area compared to other places I've lived or spent significant time.

This is so true. Been gone for 5+ years. Still do business and have property and family in the area but it is so much more miserable and prickly there than most places. There's no room for patience or understanding anymore.

Haven't followed Capital Weather Group outside of reposts here in a very long time. Once they started hedging their snowfall predictions I was out.

  6. Still getting a good amount of rain this afternoon coming in from the ocean. Much heavier than depicted on radar. Pouring actually. But showery.

    Friday/Sat am 4.35 in

Didn't rain Saturday afternoon Saturday night and all day Sunday until overnight

    Monday overnight/morning .31

About .14 with last shower. Still coming.

Feels a lot nicer though and mugginess is finally dampened by the cooling breezes and rain.

We likely caught a break playing that four game series against the Rays as they were finishing up their own 17 straight game stretch. The difference though is their pitching depth. They are better equipped for that kind of schedule.

I wish that the O’s had addressed the pitching a little more at the trade deadline. Flaherty hasn’t been good, but maybe he can offer us some long relief today. Means can’t, or shouldn’t go more than 80 pitches. And hopefully we get a quality start from Gibson tomorrow.

Means needs to go at least 6. Biggest start of his career. But last night they got snake bitten. Some poor fielding on bad luck plays. Santander and Henderson make those plays Os win.

Heading to Norfolk at 6AM tomorrow morning. Should be there by 10 or so. I cruise out of Norfolk to Bermuda on Sunday. Probably gonna be a bumpy on the way out. Looking forward to it.

That's awesome enjoy the week ahead. Close to that area of Norfolk is expected to experience  significant flooding during tomorrow's high tide after about 4:00 p.m...there will be some moderate flooding in the morning. Stay out of that area until you have to go on the cruise sunday. Safe travels that's not going to be easy.

Honestly, the biggest concern I have with this system is getting 'dry slotted' on the east side.  The afternoon models are starting to hint at this.  We need the rain here in NE NC.

We'll have plenty of rain between now and midnight it won't matter. It's a fire hose coming off the Atlantic right now. Pouring on the coast and well inland. It wouldn't be bad to get dry slotted in this case. Two or three inches is plenty. Who knows how this is going to play out. The one given is the next 6 to 10 hours of moderate to heavy rain. That's good enough. And limited power outages

  10. We need some soil soaking rains here in Northeast North Carolina badly. It's been very dry. Just really hope the wind doesn't get too ratcheted up. Tides will be interesting in the usual spots but particularly up in Norfolk and some of the lower areas.

  11. These late season games when you're trying to wrap up a division or a grind. Anybody (as ROM proved) can shut you down. Just bad luck the past two nights. I don't see any Funk or trend. They'll come out tonight with a very good chance to win with their best starter going for them. And you can take positives from the last two games as well. Means coming back looked decent. And Gibson had his 2nd good start out of last 3 so that's a nice trend. A little luck and some timely hitting and they could put some distance between the two clubs. Prediction, O's win 3 of 4.

  12. I'd imagine Rodgers, after the dust settles, rehabs and comes back for 1-2 years. He's not done in NY. That story is still being written. Zach will stink their way to an 8-9 record. Aaron back next year and they start this all over again.  Not retiring.

    Query from a Wx enthusiast-but-not-professional -

I brought this up last year when the NEXRAD feed showed up as "down for maintenance" on the Weather Underground site.   It came back for a while but then went down again, and has been showing up as "down for maintenance" ever since then - 17 months ago.  Is the NEXRAD radar gone, as something directly-accessible on web page?

I had some handy links to custom frames that pulled in the radar from the wunderground site, and loved that, but surprisingly for a popular website it's still there but still showing "down for maintenance" as of 3/2022.

I bought the RadarScope app on phone - that's pretty good, though is a bit more heavyweight and klunky, and I'm not sure if is actually the nexrad radar, and it's also not as flexible in the options for display (e.g. Rain/Snow checkbox).   There is a decent site done by College of DuPage as well - also a bit klunky, and seems odd that one would have to use a small college website to get to that.   Might there be something on a NOAA/NWS site, or major commercial site, that has it?

    Thanks for any info.

Download The Radar Now app. They just updated and now the nexrad local base reflectivities are back.

  14. I will get my frontal boundary enhanced two to four inches of rain with 55 mph gusty winds as forecasted and will appreciate the rain. Dry as hell here. Little concerned with the frontal boundary hanging over the area with the incoming storm. Someone in eastern North Carolina may get 8-10 inches of rain. Probably around the Albemarle and south. Either way I need the rain.
