  1. Thanks! I guess I still have a lot to learn about this hobby. As for the VD07 storm, we were pretty much the same here as you were there, except for, perhaps, the mid 40's temp spike for an hour before the crash which is what caused the freeway mess down here. Absolutely.
  2. Yes it was. My bad I guess, but I wonder if we get much sleet or if it goes over to zr. Some in the Mid-Atlantic thread are growing more concerned about an ice storm.
  3. I saw that and I'll be honest when I say that I didn't even know those kinds of winds were being progged for tomorrow.
  4. Did anyone else notice a huge difference between the 10:1 snowfall map at 84 hours between Pivotal Weather and Tropical Tidbits with the 12z NAM? Pivotal is showing next to nothing up the Susquehanna and about 4 inches in my backyard while TT is showing 6-8 regionwide...
  5. As much as I want to get back to work, I hate driving in winter weather, so I was "hoping" for the 8-10 that was being depicted earlier. My group probably would have postponed, but I doubt they will for a 2-4 inch garden variety snowfall...
  6. It's been an extremely boring day/week/month. I haven't worked since 12/19 due to the charter bus business being highly seasonal (which I never knew until I got in), and the whole company being closed from 12/23 to 1/6. It's very frustrating not working, and I'm really wishing I'd have stayed in trucking. Sorry for being a bit "ornery" today...
  7. Wow...I can't believe how dead it got in here. 12z GFS and Euro are out, and there's no discussion. I imagine it's because the Euro was a big fat kick in the nuts. Still holding on to about 4 inches here (a far cry from earlier depictions), but what it did to the Lower Susquehanna region is unreal...
  8. I don't think it'll be a non-event, but what was being depicted over the weekend sure looks like it's off the table (for now anyway). In 2 days I went from a 6-10 on the clown maps to 3-6. The Euro was the most drastic though, showing 8" on today's 0z to just 4" on the 12z. And I hope you don't think that I was/am being "snarky", because I wasn't trying to be. It's just that I, and most of the rest of us as well, have seen this play out before.
  9. @mattinpa, what confused you about this post? The GFS is slowly cutting totals, and the 12z Euro today drastically cut them. We see it all the time. Juiced up system a week out, and then the qpf and/or snow totals get whittled down. Likely due to more ip/zr vs snow as the qpf on this one hasn't changed much. I suppose there's a reason why they are called fantasy maps, but still...
  10. Can't say I'm not surprised. They all start out impressive, and then when it's "go time" they end up being a 1-3 or 2-4 inch slopfest...
  11. And almost always is a fast mover. Once Allentown flips, we here in Tamaqua flip about a half hour later...
  12. I may not always be the happiest person when I see that you posted, because it usually means some sort of wintry weather is on the way... , but you, sir, are a treasure to this sub-forum with your knowledge and willingness to share it. I think I speak for all when I say, thanks Mike, we are glad you are here!
  13. And they brought the hideous "Rubik's Cube" graphic out as well, which is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen...
  14. I was just going to post that the big 3 all seem to have at least a SECSy look to them. If that locks in, I'm not sure if be working next Sunday even though it's a short Palmerton to Hollywood Casino run.
  15. And I've been in a holiday layoff since 12/23. It's quite possible that my first day back will be on the 19th. Just in time (like always) for the pattern to flip.
  16. No it's not. It's beautiful out. Almost has the smell of spring...
  17. Sunrise/sunset for me today is 7:27am and 4:53pm respectfully. On a personal level, I hate the short days.
  18. Big squall along I-80 from Clearfield all the way to Loganton. Expect to see something on the news later about a pile-up...
  19. There was a good one inbound from the Milton area, but as usual, I-80 and the I-81 ridge top is eating most of it up. It's amazing how winter squalls and summer thunderstorms can traverse the entire state, crossing many ridges and valleys, but as soon as they hit I-81, poof...gone.
  20. Getting a better rate now. Eyeballing an inch on non-paved surfaces again.
  21. Somewhat, but the snow that IS falling is the typical light, snow grain variety we get so often up this way.
  22. Even though I'm not a snow lover, this crap still just boggles my mind...
  23. The lightest of snizzle going on here at the moment. It's not enough to even make the roads were.
  24. Glad I'm taking some extra time off from work as I contemplate my next move with regard to my mother's slowly failing health in AZ. I would have come totally unglued if I had to deal with snow the first few days back from the long holiday break, in which the weather was mild and benign.
