  1. Yep, looks like ~8" SYR area. Pretty solid for BUF ROC SYR. BGM and ALB get a few inches and probably a lot of mix.
  2. Go 8:1 and that should be about right with this one. Kind of a hand waving approach to account for either PL or lousy snow growth due to mismatched Omega w/ DGZ. Entirely possible with this dying system moving NE.
  3. No. Any people with that kind of accent deserves a shit sandwich. And hold the bread.
  4. We need it north. I need to start melting off the snow on the pool cover. Warm, cleansing rains of February await us!
  5. Sounds like great fun. I was in a ski haus at Killington and did a bunch of Okemo time back in the mid/late 1990s. Great times! And yeah, I remember a few days on the lift at Killington wondering WTF are we doing. Winds just low enough to keep them running but #pain. Hope your frostbite ends up being minor.
  6. I'm not seeing large amts of Omega with this system in fumbling through some Skew-T's, around NYS anyway, wondering how that will affect dendrite production. That's one way to underachieve, which we've done before...i think one of last year's systems suffered from the "rice snow" effect...
  7. i think they also have to keep in mind the broad public, many of whom are surprised, every year, to find out the worn out slicks on their car don't work to well in the snow....
  8. Someone could get a nasty ice storm out of this. Have to hope the low level cold layer ends up thick enough where the precip is heavy to produce more sleet than ZR.
  9. Could be wrong but i'm Not feeling a major downslope concern with this storm. If any, i suspect it will be more subtle than pronounced. Will higher elevations get more qpf? Sure. They usually do. I haven't dove into models yet as it's too far out. Maybe Tombo has.
  10. Ssssh. The wailing and gnashing of teeth is just getting going.
  11. *looks at Browser, sees 27 updates* *thinks, oh geeziz how bad are we screwed now by 12Z?*
  12. Interesting take, I hadn't thought of KC & being viewed as underachievers but maybe in time?....I think (could be off here) that teams like GB could be viewed in that lens, to a degree, through the Favre & Rodgers years. Certainly didn't maximize their potential in terms of SB rings. New England and Brady certainly wouldnt be viewed as underachieving by any rational standard but that was a rare long-lasting combo of elite QB having a surrounding team + Coach that also stayed good/great at the same time. Have to go back to the Landry/Staubach, Lombardi/Starr, and Browns of yore to find franchises that seemed to maximize rings (and NFL Championships pre-SB). Random thoughts...
  13. Could you zoom in the JMA for Monroe County at some point? Asking for a friend..
  14. Will be interesting to see how modelology progresses this week. I'm not getting on the ledge over a single 6Z model run. There has never been a winter storm where the exact same track/output has been locked in-place for days. This past nor'easter is case in point, all sorts of shenanigans across the entire suite of models right up to gametime...
  15. Sort of agree for legit big storms. It certainly helps the NE crew keep track of ALL THE BLIZZARDS they get. NHC started naming TS & Hurricanes for a similar reason way back in the day. In the late 1980s into 1990s, local media in New England (trailblazers in lowering the journalism bar) started naming storms to expand their ambulance-chasing type of broadcast "news" coverage. Eventually TWC started doing this, being the "big dawg" of on air "weather" coverage/hype. This was about the same time they went to seed with programming changes to cater to the masses, vs wonks, while canning dozens of experienced mets. That's my recollection anyway.
  16. Not a fan of naming winter storms.its an artifact of idiot media hype.
  17. You shouldn't panic, but if you're going to, be the first!
  18. It's Sunday night / Monday morning, mixed precip event is over 3 days away...
  19. Wouldn't surprise me if that's where this ends up. 84 hr NAM though...not likely correct.
  20. Flood watches issued tomorrow in afternoon AFD? Or wait till Tuesday a.m. package?
  21. Bills need a HC that knows how to finish...and not duck his own incompetence when he chokes. Be a man and Own it.
  22. Garappolo finally coughs it up late vs Rams. The guy was living on borrowed time. I pity the team that ends up with him next season. He sucks.
