Has been a good one for me so far. Had 3 separate events where I could walk out in the yard and play in snow with my kid. Even if there haven’t been any big ones, it’s been good.

Who cares? No amount of b'ing and moaning is going to change the weather, lol. Just enjoy what comes when it does.

why would people being disappointed be hilarious? I hope it dumps on someone and they get to make memories they'll cherish for a lifetime.

Best i've done was 20+ inches in that 2000 storm. I remember how awesome it looked and how cool it was falling down. But actually playing in it was a chore...especially for a kid who could barely walk around in it.

yeah, and 3 days out on the last storm the models were showing nothing. Like i said, its way too far out for ME to get excited, but it is exciting to follow.

I assume the issue for them is that people post these maps on, say, twitter, without any notification or warning that this is likely not to happen. What this ends up doing is having ignorant people that don't know any better flood their social media with posts about a storm thats likely not to happen and get their hopes up about a storm that is likely not to happen so that when it doesnt happen, they flood the mets socials with irate posts about why the storm didn't happen...when it wasn't likely to in the first place. IMO, theres nothing wrong with sharing models 5,6,7 days out. I think if you want to be safe you share it with the warning that this is very likely not to be the outcome...but even then, the ignorant snow chasers that don't understand what theyre looking at wont get it. Its kind of the issue with social media in general...no matter what information you share, theres going to be an ignorant portion of the population that is going to take it WAY out of context and cause issues for everyone else.

yea, i was amazed at how warm it felt in the sun and at how quickly the roads cleared. They were absolute sheets of ice this morning when i went out at 8:00. By 10:30 there were already car wide paths through them all the way to the asphalt and melting off.

that has my area in the sub 2 inch snow, but i measured last night as it was ending and definitely measured somewhere between 2.5 and 2.8 inches.

since im dealing with the final flurries, figured id go out and measure. Measured 2.8 inches off the top of my car in N. Durham. Now i'm going to sleep as I'm going to have a fun morning with my 4 year old tomorrow

I bet theres gonna be a steep 2+ inch jump right to my east/southeast. Im prolly around 2 inches in N. Durham right now. I think most of Raleigh easily ends up with 4+ after that band finishes

yeah, i was on the very northern tip of it, so not as strong as what you're going through and it was the heaviest snow of the night. Really helped my totals. I wouldn't be surprised to see you guys down that way add .75-1 inch in that band alone

I used to be one of those folks that would get upset and post my feelings whenever a storm didn't pan out, which is often in this area....but when you get to a certain age or maturity or experience...you realize that its going to happen...and to go into these systems realizing that it may not end up the way its being modeled. I appreciate this storm for multiple reasons. For one, it overperformed as a whole, IMO. For two...never had an issue with mixing...at all. Began as snow, will end as snow. Not often do you get that in this area. Almost every system has some kind of mixing on the front end, back end, etc. And last but not least, i really like the look of the mass of tiny flakes falling through the air. The large flakes have a different beauty, but the wall of tiny flakes...i haven't seen that much...and I found it to be quite pretty. Hope everyone enjoys tonight and tomorrow and stays safe.

does anyone else have a fascination with undisturbed snow like I do? Like I absolutely hate it when people walk through it and put foot prints and wheel marks in it. The absolute beauty of untouched/undisturbed snow on the ground is unmatched.

oh yeah, that band coming through means business. So much coming down its really cut visibility.... I dont even have to look up at the lights to tell its snowing anymore. I could see adding a quick half inch with this band alone...and im not even in the strongest part of it
