  1. I mean, this thing has warm nose/no real accumulation for CLT proper and south written all over it. How many times have we seen it in recent years, even when GSP is actually calling for measurable accumulation? I think I've had 8+ inch snowfalls turn into an inch or so of slop each of the last 3 winters. And normally the warm nose doesn't even show up as much of an issue until much closer to the event. Hate to be a downer, but this just doesn't look good. Now, my in-laws up north/west of Huntersville (and several on the board well north of 85) will probably get some decent snowfall.
  2. Two cold chasing moisture scenarios in GFS fantasy land. We know how that works out.
  3. Rates falling off. Was hoping they could stay up as the sun angle gets better. Frustrating day but still fun to watch.
  4. This is legit inch an hour rates right now. If only the temperature was 3 degrees colder.
  5. This is the hardest I’ve seen it snow consistently with zero accumulation. Frustrating.
  6. These are solid rates, it’s just too warm. We’d have an inch or so in Madison Park, but instead just a slushy trace on elevated stuff. Just got back from a walk. Really pretty to watch at least.
  7. Ok it’s ripping here now. Trying to stick a bit on elevated surfaces. Time to take the dogs out.
  8. Light snow tapered back off to flurries in Madison Park. Radar starting to look like it’s breaking up a bit.
  9. Light rain starting in CLT. This is going to be infuriating.
  10. This juicy radar is going to dry up right at the NC border isn’t it??
  11. Just Virga so far in Charlotte. Surprising to see returns blossoming ahead of the main batch of precip. Hopefully a good sign.
  12. Not understanding why the meso models are showing the precip coming from the SW, yet drying up as it crosses the relatively low SC uplands. It's not like it's slamming up against really cold/dry air. But I guess it's not that strong to begin with.
  13. Some token graupel pellets currently in Charlotte. Nothing on radar. Maybe that's a positive sign for tomorrow.
  14. Wow, looks like the CLT metro area may even be in for a bit of a surprise, though I'd highly doubt anything sticks.
  15. My parents have a massive pine tree down in their yard in the same area. Pretty much any/every creek in the Charlotte metro area is massively overflowing. And it looks like it may keep raining until 2 AM or so. This is bad.
  16. Big lull for the CLT metro. One of the few times in winter I won't complain about being too far south/east for the action, though some nasty stuff will roll through later. Hope everyone to the west and north is staying safe. Is there a quick/easy site to check rain live rain gauge totals?
  17. Looks like nothing but Apps/lakes cutters as far as the eye can see. Punt til early March?
  18. Some decent sized flakes mixing in with rain showers in Fort Mill. Wife reporting the same in midtown Charlotte.
  19. Saw a few pingers on the way into work this morning mixed in with mostly rain. Always good to see frozen precip this early, even if it's meaningless.
  20. I was referencing CLT (specifically CLT proper). Would definitely be keeping my guard up points east, and the RDU area. I can already see some clearing back to the west from my office window. Breeze has definitely picked up in the last 10 minutes though.
  21. For all the hype, this is turning out to be fairly benign for the CLT metro. Radar back to the west looks pretty limited as well, other than the small line nearing Augusta.
  22. Have had light sleet with occasional snowflakes not too far from CLT off Billy Graham for the last 45 minutes or so. Not accumulating.
  23. GFS shows a clipper next Mon/Tues, but we know how those go. CMC is showing some pretty legit backside snows from this weekend's storm for the mountains and TN.
  24. Both the HRRR and RGEM show a decent burst for the SC midlands and SE NC tonight. Hope some our friends further south can sneak out a quick dusting/inch.
