  1. GFS is fast enough up here that we actually maintain a little in-situ CAD to minimize the damage. That model is really best case scenario...less rain, less warmth, and less duration of warmth. I really don’t need hydro issues on Christmas day.
  2. heh...maybe it’s measured correctly and they just found a way to screw up the liquid sample, but it sounds like a packed down drift or something. There was definitely a max just to my NW though based on the multiple obs around 40” and Danbury is in that zone. I just hate seeing a report where I know part of it is severely flawed.
  3. Heh...so they’re the Danbury ob and they’re marketing it. Their SWE is way off so I still don’t trust the numbers.
  4. They’ll be warmer than that if this verifies...well into the 40s.
  5. Don’t worry though. It’ll find a way to snow in early May again.
  6. Kind of a bummer to know that I’ve probably already had my deepest winter look of the season.
  7. 4-5” of rain for you. 3” here in deformed land. Major flood threat.
  8. Thought the northern stream could run out ahead of it longer, but it eventually decides to dive in and phase anyway. Delayed but not denied.
  9. Euro is digging the southern stream way into the southwest.
  10. It’s all in fun in here. Have a laugh. We all bust each other. None of us want a torch Christmas.
  11. I’ll have a dew, Christmas, without snow I’ll breathe those dews, while southeast, winds blow Decorations of red, full of humidity Wouldn’t be Christmas, if the lawn just wasn’t green
  12. That’s how I thought we could pull it off. Some of the ensemble members did that...then we fropa and get a mixed system coming up from the southern stream only. Unfortunately we have our synoptic hope in an 84hr NAM prog.
  13. Yeah I was just waiting for your update.
  14. "Why, my sweet little weenie," the fake Santy Moth lied, "There's a light on this lamp that won't light on one side. So I'm taking it home to my workshop, my dear. I'll fix it up there, then I'll bring it back here." And his fib fooled the weenie. Then he patted his head, And he got him a drink, and he sent Mothman to bed.
  15. Looks like some diamond dust at CON this morning too after a low of -8° and a drop in vis down to 3/4SM and -SN being reported.
  16. heh...so 15.2” new and only 2” depth increase at the following 24hr obs time. I lost 8” from my peak depth to the following morning so it’s reasonable to think their depth was around 40” when the snow ended.

  18. 34” sticking out like a sore thumb. Final total was 36.0”.
  19. Check that. Decent temp drop at sunrise now... -1°. There’s something to these spikes down in temp at sunrise here. I wonder if the rising sun warms the top of the trees and strengthens the inversion briefly until the solar heating reaches the surface.
  20. It really is unreal how we seem to deal with this on Christmas 50% of the time.
  21. I always thought the old airport observers used to lowball it a bit. It’s measured by a nearby COOP observer a bit away from the ASOS since the contract airport observers got terminated. Since then we’ve seen some bigger numbers by CON in that list.
