    Saw some solid flurry action about 20 minutes ago. I’m satisfied. 1st flakes of the year on Christmas night no less. Merry Christmas everyone.

    Currently 44f with NW winds 20-25 picked up 2.75” since last night. Ocean temp right around 50f so a few degrees above average.

    Friend says over 2.75” in his rain gauge West Cape May, NJ Unreal how wet it has been

    @CAPE Wife and I happened to be visiting family in N Jersey for that storm so we saw the full brunt of it which was awesome. However, coastal cape May did get about a foot of snow That turned to a mix of sleet and ice with storm force winds. When we came home, the north side of the house was caked in a 2” thick crust of sleet and ice. Never seen anything like that since down here.

    Good luck neighbors! This north trend can stop now. My dew point is super low still. I’m at 32/8 so will have to battle virga a while.

    I agree. Plus less mixing at the coast. The dews and the high placement argue for cold air holding on longer. Hope you guys get shellacked !

    Just for perspective here in Cape May NJ we have about 2" with mostly moderate snow. Flake size varying but good dendrites in the heavier bands. Best to you all fellow snow lovers. Hope you get crushed.

    I really feel that as models have depicted this storm threat so far, things are exactly where we'd want them at this point. I think this either totally washes out before it reaches the coast or bumps north like they almost always do.

    About .5" so far but temps down to 32. Here's to a fun night.

    SSTs say it all. Winter is over from what I can see. Really never got fully started down here. Hope you all took pictures during the blizzard.

    Good map and always room for upward adjustments as new guidance comes in. I would not want to be a pro forecaster for the next 2 weeks. Looks like chaos in the medium range.

    Thanks Snowdude really appreciate the analysis and updates. Our areas are very similar climatologically. I think 6-10" by the time it's all said and done.

    Ocean has cooled and will continue to do so this week. Water was warmer in Dec 09 and we managed mix to snow 6-10" in my immediate area. As of now I expect a Jan '96 type event with solid front end snow with rain to wash about half away and end with a few more inches snow. Maybe better than that.

    I hope so. It would be nice to see a pattern flip ahead of expectations for once!

    I enjoyed reading Joe D's (Dr Dewpoint) blogs when he was with Intellicast about 12-13 years ago. Very bright man. Hope he's right.

    I don't get a chance to do much other than work in the warmer months. I'll be dropping in from time to time. I have started to read some posts on this upcoming winter.
